Quarterback Jay Cutler’s thumb injury may have caught the most notice coming out of Monday night’s loss to the Eagles, but the Bears had several other injuries on the defensive side of the ball as well.

The knee injury suffered by linebacker Lamarr Houston may be the most serious. Houston didn’t play in the second half of the 29-14 loss after getting hurt and coach John Fox said after the game, via the Chicago Sun-Times, that the injury “seems to be substantial.”

If that’s the case, it will be the second serious knee injury for Houston in the last three years. He tore his ACL in 2014 while celebrating a sack of Jimmy Garoppolo late in a blowout loss for the Bears. He returned to record eight sacks in 16 games last season.

Houston’s injury comes at a moment when the Bears are waiting for Pernell McPhee to become eligible to return from the PUP list. McPhee landed there after knee surgery of his own, which leaves the Bears with Willie Young, Leonard Floyd and Sam Acho at outside linebacker.

The other injuries on defense include defensive tackle Eddie Goldman’s ankle and concussions suffered by safety Adrian Amos and cornerback Bryce Callahan.
