Lions signing Aaron Dobson

The Lions are signing wide receiver Aaron Dobson following a Tuesday workout, the Detroit Free Press reported.

No corresponding roster move was announced, and team has not officially announced the signing.

Dobson, a second-round pick in 2013, was cut by the Patriots earlier this month. Last week, he worked out for the 49ers and Chargers.

New Lions general manager Bob Quinn worked for the Patriots before taking this job, so he has familiarity with Dobson.

Dobson, 25, has 53 career receptions and had four touchdown catches as a rookie. He participated in a workout Tuesday that also included former Lions running back Joique Bell.

Makes perfect sense, the former n.e. gm signing a former n.e player, a wide receiver, when they are in desperate need of a linebacker.

Hands of stone good luck with that. He’ll make one really nice catch and then drop 10 easy ones.

No toughness to his game–doesn’t go get the ball. Good speed and length. Too many drops. I’d be surprised if he’s still in the league in 2 years.
