With Ameer Abdullah ailing, the Lions are looking at another running back.

Joique Bell worked out for the Lions today, Adam Caplan of ESPN reports.

The obvious advantage to bringing Bell in is that he already knows the offense: Bell played for the Lions from 2012 to 2015. Last year he was second on the team with 311 rushing yards and sixth on the team with 286 receiving yards.

The Lions cut Bell this offseason and he hasn’t signed anywhere since. He’s one of the better running backs currently available.

If Abdullah is out for a significant period of time, Bell would provide the Lions with some depth at running back, where they also have Theo Riddick, Zach Zenner and Dwayne Washington.

The Lions also worked out linebackers Joplo Bartu, James-Michael Johnson, Zaviar Gooden and Jamari Lattimore.
