Cut Tuesday by the Browns, rookie linebacker Scooby Wright has returned to the team in a different capacity -- but at the same rate of pay.

Per a league source, the seventh-round pick passed through waivers and signed with the team’s practice squad. The Browns will pay him $26,470 per week. That’s precisely what he was earning as a member of the active roster.

Injuries forced the Browns to clear a spot on the 53-man roster. Wright can be returned to the active roster at any time. Likewise, another team could offer him a spot on its active roster.

For now, though, Wright will keep getting paid as if he’s still a full-fledged member of the team.
