The Falcons are bringing back another veteran in hopes of adding some spark to their defense.

According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Falcons are expected to sign veteran linebacker O’Brien Schofield this week.

He played in all 16 games and started 10 for the Falcons last year, and had a pair of sacks. But he couldn’t get on the same page as the team on a contract this offseason, so he waited it out.

Now that they’re beyond the opening week, the Falcons wouldn’t have to guarantee his salary for the year, which makes it an easier time to add a veteran. He had some degree of interest from the Patriots and visited the Jets recently, but apparently didn’t like what they were offering either.
