Two interceptions, one he returned for a 60-yard touchdown, made Cardinals cornerback Marcus Cooper the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 2 of the season.

The weekly honor is Cooper’s first. It’s a pretty nice honor for the Cardinals’ personnel department, too. The Cardinals acquired Cooper in a trade with the Chiefs on Sept. 2.

Cooper’s 60-yard touchdown off a tipped pass came in the third quarter of a rout over the Buccaneers last Sunday.

Cooper also had five tackles and three pass breakups in the game.

He was a pleasant surprise for Cards fans. The rook is too green to play substantial minutes & Bethel just hasn’t shown the ability to cover on the outside.

I wonder Simon sees to minutes this week along with Coop on the outside.

I’ve learned not to start fantasy WRs if they play the Cardinals. That secondary is no joke.

We call this a “Keim-Time Sign”. AT LEAST one splash signing in an area of real need every year.

Cooper was also plastered all over receivers all day in addition to the picks.
