Defense dominating for Patriots, who hold 10-0 lead

Houston Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler (17) passes against the New England Patriots during the first half of an NFL football game Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, in Foxborough, Mass. (AP Photo/Elise Amendola)

The Texans are struggling to figure out the Patriots’ defense. There hasn’t been much offense on either side, and the Patriots hold a 10-0 halftime lead.

All 10 points came late in the first quarter. The Patriots kicked a field goal, Texans defensive back Charles James fumbled the ensuing kickoff and Duron Harmon recovered for the Patriots. After a penalty, Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett ran 27 yards for a touchdown.

The Texans got to the 50 once but have not crossed it. The Texans had the ball for more than 17 minutes but haven’t mustered much besides a bunch of short passes.

The Texans also got intercepted early in the second quarter. The Patriots have been content to run the ball, run the clock and play good defense.

Its painful for the NFL and its teams to watch the Patriots have success without Brady……….life is good

Conservative play calling by both clubs. Snoozer.

Oddly, the Patriots pass rush has been less than stellar. The secondary, however, was outstanding in the first half.

Oh NFL owners and Goodell you want to punish Patriots and Brady because you can’t get your own teams any hardware while Brady is playing…jokes on all of you. Brady gets extra rest…we find out Garoppolo is legit and could probably get a 1st round pick for him and we are about to be 4-0 without Brady or Gronk hahaha. Wait until Brady is back and has Gronk and Bennett on the same field. The AFC east will never be won by any other team until Belichick retires period. Haters hate but there is no denying the Patriots are the best coached team in the NFL. We’re on to the 5th ring…

Right because we see Brady run the option play and run for 27yard Tds all the time

They’ve been rushing 3 a lot of the time forcing Osweiler to make throws in tight windows. He’s hit a few (mostly because Hopkins is a stud), but not enough to actually move the ball so far.

This was supposed to be the game where the Texans were gonna show everyone they belong amongst the NFL elite. I think we can say for certain now. The Texans do not belong.

Wow haters are out as the Pats are humiliating Houston. Its not a system that wins, it’s a culture of winning. When you aspire to be the best and put people in a position to excel, and practice excellence every day, game days are fun. Switch channels Red Sox beat Yanks in 4 and sweep the Orioles in 4 to the win their 8th straight and may have just knocked them out of the playoffs. Ortiz having an amazing year, no Brady yet the Pats win. It’s been great to be a Boston fan since 2001. It’s going to be a fun end of September and October with the Pats getting Brady back and the Red Sox in the playoff. Hate on!

Bill obrien should be fired for this inept performance…Houston is going thru the motions out there. Poor tackling, dopey ball security, collapsed pocket, etc.

  18. brianav036 says: Sep 22, 2016 10:43 PM

The Patriots cut the corners on virtually every rule that is in the rule book. In my opinion (and many others) they may have even cheated on more than one occasion. With that being said if you cannot sit back in pure awe.at all of their aconplishments and give them credit for everything that they do as an organization then you are depriving yourself of watching one of the most dominant franchises in sports history. Trust me as a lifelong Dolphin fan it pains me to say this and I hope the end is near. I just want the AFC East to be competitive once again.

NE does, and also Denver and Pittsburgh. That’s really about it though.

GB succeeds because they’re QB is a stud.

Other teams occasionally have a good year or two.

Well more than half the teams in the league are an absolute joke, playing the role of Washington Generals to the few elites.

No team makes it to the SB every year….. Denver has their one win this millennium…..same as Tampa Bay. Pats will be no worse than 3-1 when Brady comes back. I like their chances.

Power Ranking have the Pats and Steelers at #1 and the Texans at #6…..wonder how far the Texans fall after tonight?
Oh and the Pats were home underdogs tonight. Lol. The experts know nothing. Think about it Cleveland Fans, Belichick and the 1996 Browns started this and had the team not been sold and moved to Baltimore this could be your run.

    Epic typing failure.

  33. eagleswin says: Sep 22, 2016 11:16 PM

The Texans just look like a badly coached team on both sides of the ball.

They were so conservative in the first half you would’ve thought they had the rookie QB.

I will be surprised if their kick returner is on the team tomorrow as he pretty much gifted the patriots with 14 points when the game was still tight.

Just failure in pretty much every aspect of the game.

  34. moerawn says: Sep 22, 2016 11:16 PM

Every Mediot called Houston. Told the wife, “that means NE wins”. Sadly, did not back it up with money.

  35. mikeytoth says: Sep 22, 2016 11:24 PM

What an embarrassment. Texans might as well be called the browns. Pathetic showing by an NFL team.

  36. redzonerambler says: Sep 22, 2016 11:33 PM

Not a Pats fan, but I think Goodell screwed them. I am glad to see them winning and hope Goodell is fuming at home.

I will also say that although I am normally cheering for the Vikes and the Raiders, I have a great deal of respect for the skill and depth the Pats are showing out there.

Not really, it confirms what all of us that have intelligence (and play or played the game) have been saying. Brady is a product of the system. First three super-bowls he was basically a game manager which there’s nothing wrong with that. Football is a team sport and the coaching staff will either make a player, or break a player. Put Brady on the Browns and we wouldn’t be talking about him. I’m still upset over my teams Superbowl loss due to the Pats cheating, yes they cheated and Goodell covered it up (that’s a fact that came out earlier this year) BUT, Belichick is good.

This comment “confirms” you don’t know squat

Tell us genius, how is it that all these current and former coaches who call Brady one of if not the GOAT are all wrong but you have it all figured out.

Thanks for sharing your pop Warner glory story.
Clearly intelligence is not your strong suit. Unless you also assert the same ignorance regarding Montana.

Math teaches there’ a direct proportional relationship between jealousy and dumb comments.

its not mutually exclusive. you can play on a system team like Joe Cool did and still be considered the GOAT

    2 fumbled KO, lockdown defense,

Lets not put Brissett in the hof just yet. Brady may have put up 50 last night. pats left at least 2 td’s on the field.

Pats win-awesome. Tears of haters with their “system QB”Silliness- extra awesome sauce.

Very entertaining watching the flip from “Pats will lose” to “Brady’s a system QB”.
