Patriots up 10-0 on turnover, Brissett TD run

The Patriots recovered a fumble on a kickoff, then rookie quarterback Jacoby Brissett took a bootleg 27 yards on first down for a touchdown and a 10-0 lead on the Texans late in the first quarter.

Charles James had fumbled the kickoff after a Stephen Gostkowski field goal, and Duron Harmon recovered for the Patriots.

On the previous drive, Brissett hit rookie wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell on a 27-yard gain to the Texans 15-yard line but the Patriots ended up settling for a field goal on fourth and one at the 6-yard line.

Brissett has hit 4-of-6 passes for 43 yards. The field goal drive covered 74 yards in 10 plays.

Walt Coleman and his crew are inept!

It’s really gotta suck for the rest of the division that somehow the Patriots have the 3 best QBs in the division.

  3. patsfan1820 says: Sep 22, 2016 9:10 PM

Texans are leaving running lanes open on the outside hopefully the Patriots continue to use these designed qb runs.

seriously, how does belichick etc, keep finding these guys that other teams pass on? first game for brissett, and he runs well, maybe a bit nervous passing, but he will settle down. it’s unreal how the patriots are so good for so long.

Folks, we are in the presence of greatness. Patriots and Belichek are light years ahead of the league. I was a Packer fan, and a fan of the nfl, however no longer.

But, if one admires perfection one must admire New England. They are truly a marvelous organization.

Tom who? Only the Bostonians are blind in thinking they have the GOAT QB. From the outside, it’s easy to see Bill has it going on, and will continue doing so, long after 2 yard Tammy is gone. Win or lose this game, that much is painfully clear.

  11. tedmurph says: Sep 22, 2016 9:15 PM

I don’t care if they win or lose this game (well, maybe I do). What a coaching staff, what a team. JJ Watt or Clowney playing?

Pats could start a homeless dude they picked up under the Tobin Bridge 5 minutes before kickoff & still win.. unreal

  18. bassplucker says: Sep 22, 2016 9:29 PM

I hate the Patriots but what other team in the league could trot out their 3rd-string rookie QB in his first NFL start, in prime time, and be taking it to a top 5 defense? Unbelievable.

  19. hibcid16 says: Sep 22, 2016 9:30 PM

So far, typical results for a Belichick coached NE Pats team. Now I’m all for any player getting as much money as they can for all the obvious reasons. However, I am beginning to wonder if Brock should have stayed in Denver for the lower amount. There’s something to be said about growing into a job, but the Texans need a mature, win now QB. Right now I do not see a leader in Houston.

  21. trainwrecksryan says: Sep 22, 2016 9:40 PM

The best part is, some garbage franchise will offer New England all of their draft picks and a pirate chest full of gold for Brissett only to see him fade into obscurity a year or two later…

I think most smart people know Brady has 4 SB rings, Jimmy and Jake have played less than 3 games combined

You’re really comparing these guys to Brady?

I remember Pittsburgh trotting out a 3rd string QB in prime time vs Baltimore (Dixon, right?) years ago and being very competitive. All about the coaching.

Yes but Brady brings the 12 to 14 every year. You need the great QB and coach to do that a decade and 1/2.

No mention of the Patriot’s fourth string quarterback who would start for any team in the NFL.

Don’t hate, congratulate and give props that Bill Belichick is the GREATEST coach in NFL history!!! After winning with D. Bledsoe, “Tom Terrific, Matt Cassel, Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett, I don’t think you can argue it any more.

Everyone get off of jimmy g and brisset testicles, yes they played really really good but I’m pretty sure it’s the coaches and the system at this point you can throw in anyone and they’d be successful. It’s why belicheck is the best coach in the nfl.
