Report: Jimmy Garoppolo won’t dress on Thursday night

The Patriots apparently will face the Texans with only one quarterback.

Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com reports that the team is expected to not put Jimmy Garoppolo in uniform on Thursday night. This would make Jacoby Brissett the one and only starter, with receiver Julian Edelman as the emergency option.

The report from Reiss contradicts an NFL Network report that Garoppolo will serve as the understudy to Brissett.

Tom Curran of CSN New England has reported that Garoppolo has a Grade 2 AC joint sprain, a 2-4 week injury that possibly would allow him to play in Week Four against the Bills. The next day, quarterback Tom Brady will return to the team, following the conclusion of his #DeflateGate suspension.

Bill has gotten the team this far without Brady. If this is his decision, to roll with just one healthy QB, then I trust his judgment.

I think the Texans will win a squeaker tonight. I think the Patsies will beat my Bills and will hold 1 game lead over the Jets after 4 games, with the Jets splitting their next two games – Kansas City and Seattle. The dolphins will be 1-3, as I think they will beat the Browns this week but lose at the Bengals the following week.

So maybe TB is just a really good QB in a Great System…Good luck Brissett, that Defense is coming hard at you…

If he comes out & catches fire, can we call him Jacoby Briquette?

  11. tonyzendejas says: Sep 22, 2016 1:23 PM

These are wild times as Pats fans. Not as wild as going 19-0 to send Tom off into retirement as the GOAT and crown Jimmy Touchdown the next dynasty QB, though.

Your report is wrong, Brisset will start, Garapolo will be backup.

  13. churchofthehoody says: Sep 22, 2016 1:27 PM

I hope the Pats make a last minute substitution and trot Brady out there with a handlebar mustache and porn name…

The Patriots wouldn’t be skirting another NFL rule now would they?

    When will they learn?

  16. 6ball says: Sep 22, 2016 1:49 PM

    .
If the Patriots line up in a three TE formation with tackle, Cameron Fleming as the 3rd TE, and run the ball continually with Legarette Blount, will they be successful? I think the winner of the Patriots Oline vs the Texans Dline matchup will win the game.

Give it an hour. The NFL will force an edit to the Reiss article…..again.

Goodell is about to be wheeled into Ward A on the suicide watch wing:

    1. Pats win vs Texans with a rookie 3rd stringer.
    2. Pats realize Brissett can be as good as Jimmy.
    3. Pats deal Jimmy to the Bears for a 1st and a 4th rder in 2017, getting back their stolen draft picks.
    4. Pats in the SB.
    5. Pats dominate 2017 draft and load up yet again.

The way this is backfiring is pee your pants funny.

    He’s going to play naked?

  20. neelymessier says: Sep 22, 2016 2:09 PM

The success of Jimmy is mainly because Jimmy is really good. Brady has had many backups and none have performed like Jimmy. Of course it is a great system, but two great early games don’t equal performing in the most important games.

  21. helldog33 says: Sep 22, 2016 2:17 PM

I wanna see the emergency option.

  22. jackedupboonie says: Sep 22, 2016 2:21 PM

It’s simple logic..really. If an NFL team starts their 3rd string QB….bet your life on the other team. But…..after sitting in my living room holding my dog and thinking Lynch was about to ease into the end zone for back to back sup wins…..not so fast

    Won’t dress gate?

  24. carloswlassiter says: Sep 22, 2016 2:35 PM

I want to see A.J. Derby as the back up. He played QB a lot more recently than Edelman.

  25. firecracker87 says: Sep 22, 2016 2:36 PM

Ok, it’s long over due. The media, including Florio, needs to change their reference to why Brady was suspended.

    #DeflateGate

    Should be

    #Framegate

Even Florio wrote articles on the lies, deceit, manipulation of media, reports, etc. that proves the NFL just had an ax to grind (save face for not understanding 7th grade science and weather).

    So c’mon call a spade a spade.

    __________
I’m pretty sure that they’re the toughest athletes in the world. In fact tonight, we should see two of the NFL’s toughest in J.J. Watt and Julian Edelman.

    Jacoby Briquette?
More like Jacoby Brisket – and you better believe a buncha good ol’ boys from Texas know how to smoke a brisket.

Oh no, it’s the 1 SB in 10 years “dynasty” talk again.
