The Packers aren’t sure when Sam Shields might return to the field, after his fourth concussion in the last six seasons.
And there’s enough uncertainty that Shields is getting more opinions.
According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com, the Packers cornerback saw an off-site specialist to determine the next steps.
Shields has sustained four concussions in the last six seasons, with the latest in the regular season opener at Jacksonville.
“Sam is going through the protocol and the evaluations that are necessary with that,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy.
Sheilds missed three regular-season games and a playoff game last year after a concussion, and isn’t expected to play this week against the Lions.
