Brian Hoyer is set to make his first start as a Bear.

The Bears’ injury report for Sunday’s game lists Jay Cutler as doubtful, meaning Hoyer is a near-lock to be the starting quarterback against the Cowboys on Sunday night. Matt Barkley will back Hoyer up.

Also doubtful are defensive tackle Eddie Goldman and running back Ka’Deem Carey. Danny Trevathan has already been ruled out. Bears receiver Alshon Jeffery is listed as questionable with knee soreness.

Hoyer started nine games for the Texans last season. His last start was a disastrous four-interception game in a playoff loss to the Chiefs.

It doesn’t matter. If your OL doesn’t improve, you can’t run, you can’t pass, you can’t win.

Historically Dallas struggles against teams that are supposed to 1) have awful Olines, and 2) bad QB play. So I expect a competitive game no matter what because Cowboys always play up or down to level of competition, can beat anyone or be beaten by anyone.

Cutler has actually been doubtful for about 6 years now. Glad the team got the memo.

The Bears will not dress 3 QBs Sunday night. They need that extra body at any number of other positions a lot worse. It will be Hoyer and Barkley active with Cutler in civvies if he makes the trip at all.

Is he doubtful because of an injury or is it just doubtful that he can play QB in the NFL?

Watch Hoyer come out and do his best 2004 Peyton Manning impression and light up the Dallas D. Happens every time.

No doubt Plucker: The Bears are really beat up! I thought by trying to get younger , which they have, they wouldn’t be quite so susceptible to all these injuries. Man, not so good. Their secondary are all concussed it would seem.

Cutler could be 6 feet under and they’d list him as doubtful.

I’ve always thought he wears a doubtful expression no matter which day you can name.
