Bengals list Eifert as doubtful for Sunday

The Bengals are listing Pro Bowl tight end Tyler Eifert as doubtful for Sunday’s game vs. the Broncos.

Eifert had returned to practice this week on a limited basis and taken part in his first team drills since last year. Eifert was injured in the Pro Bowl last February and had ankle surgery last spring.

The Bengals play next Thursday at home against the Dolphins, so keeping Eifert out of Sunday’s game — as the “doubtful” designation indicates the team will do — gives him some extra work before making his debut and some extra rest after it.

Eifert caught a career-best 52 passes last season and led all NFL tight ends with 13 touchdown receptions.

“Injured in the pro bowl” — well, at least it was worth it.

Mentioning he was hurt in the pro bowl just deflects from the fact he is always injured. Dude’s as fragile as the bengals playoff hopes.

What a downer to make it the whole season and put up great numbers only to be injured in a meaningless barely watched football game.
