Report: Watt’s season likely over after surgery

J.J. Watt's absence for the rest of the season will hurt the Texans' defense, which might also effect the team's struggling offense.

Texans Pro Bowl defensive end J.J. Watt underwent back surgery Thursday that’s expected to keep him out for the rest of the season, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

The Texans officially placed Watt on injured reserve Wednesday.

Watt missed all of training camp and the preseason after having surgery to repair a herniated disc in July.

The Texans are 2-1 and host the Titans Sunday.
