Laremy Tunsil sees left tackle as easier than left guard

NBC Sports Medical Analyst Mike Ryan joins the PFT show to discuss the severity of both Russell Wilson and Dez Bryant's injuries.

Despite the widespread belief (even if it’s not accurate) that left tackle is the most importance position on the offensive line by far, it’s apparently not the hardest -- at least not in the eyes of Dolphins rookie Laremy Tunsil.

In Thursday night’s game at Cincinnati, Tunsil played left tackle for the first time, subbing for the injured Branden Albert. Tunsil liked returning to the position at which he excelled in college.

“It helps a lot because you’re in there dealing with big boys,” Tunsil said, via Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post. “Going back to that left tackle spot, you are dealing with defensive ends that are 280, so it’s kind of easier. But they’re coming off the ball, too.”

It wasn’t a perfect night for Tunsil. Then again, the night was far from perfect for most Dolphins. Once Albert is healthy, Tunsil will move back inside. When he does, center Mike Pouncey likely will be back. And Tunsil is happy about that.

“Yeah!” Tunsil said upon hearing that Pouncey will soon return. “That’s what’s up.”

For the down-for-now Dolphins, Tunsil’s enthusiasm and growing comfort level is a rare sliver of good news.
