Ezekiel Elliott leads the way as Cowboys beat the 49ers

Cowboys rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott had another big game today in San Francisco.

Elliott carried 23 times for 138 yards and a touchdown as the Cowboys beat the 49ers 24-17.

It was a game that saw the 49ers jump out to an early 14-0 lead and then fall apart, as the Cowboys’ offensive line began to dominate the 49ers’ front seven, while the Cowboys’ defense shut down the Chip Kelly offense.

Cowboys cornerback Morris Claiborne had a big game, including intercepting a badly underthrown Blaine Gabbert pass and making a tackle on a fourth down attempt late in the game.

The 49ers suffered some costly injuries, with linebacker Navorro Bowman and receiver Jeremy Kerley both heading to the locker room. It was not a pleasant day for a San Francisco team that hasn’t had many pleasant days. San Francisco is now 1-3.

And Dallas is now 3-1. When Tony Romo went down, few thought that was possible. But Dak Prescott has played well, Elliott has played even better, and the Cowboys have to love where they are, a quarter of the way through the season.

They beat an NFC bottom feeder but I’ll take it.

Cowboys fans- They stay in the closet until they start winning. I’ve seen it over and over the past 20 years or so.

Good job Cowboys, despite both of our franchises falling from the grace of our historic rivalry you guys were the better team (despite the ‘controversial’ calls).

That hack who claims to have been a former fan must be so happy his home team (the Raiduhhs) won. I’m just glad that every loss is one closer to seeing Trent “The Virus” Baalke getting fired. We can’t even start to rebuild until that talentless fraud gets canned.

So again good win Dallas, hopefully in a couple of years we may face you again more competitively.

  8. delta7x1 says: Oct 2, 2016 7:39 PM

First time watching the 49ers this season. Are they really running some read option plays with gabbert? ….

This makes the Thursday night game the battle for the cellar.

  10. GhostPepper says: Oct 2, 2016 7:40 PM

The 9ers are a joke and Dallas still needed some assistance from the officials to pull it off.

The niners are a mess. Doubt chip lasts more than a year.

    PFT’s Week Four picks

Florio’s take: No Romo, no Dez. No problem, for the 49ers — especially since coach Chip Kelly knows the Cowboys well after playing them six times in three years with the Eagles.

    Florio’s pick: 49ers 20, Cowboys 17.

  13. decon49 says: Oct 2, 2016 7:48 PM

Gabbert is absolutely horrible. Baalke needs to be fired

  15. sportoficionado says: Oct 2, 2016 7:52 PM

that was a great team win–all hands on deck with so many starters out–young guys like Zeke and Dak leading this team right now makes the future look very promising.

We aren’t bandwagon fans. That’s why the ball club is the most valuable sports franchise on the planet.

  19. jerrysglassescleaner says: Oct 2, 2016 7:55 PM

Bad calls on both sides of the ball. Down by 14 and then America’s Team came together and became one. Resilience is key! Jerry clearly took the best QB in the draft. After Romo wins a couple of superbowls before retiring, Dak will them change the game winning a few of his own. Jerry lays out these blue prints every franchise wants to follow.

any haters on what a wasted draft pick Zeke is..SHUT UP!!!

  21. Toronto9ers says: Oct 2, 2016 7:57 PM

Nothing to be excited about with the 9ers. No talent, no direction, no leadership. Never have I been this embarrassed supporting this organization.

This disaster is exactly what happens when you put your boy son in charge of an organization. This is a club with no values, talent or dignity. The 49er logo belongs right beside the kaepernick jerseys being used as doormats.

The team cupboard is pretty bare. They got killed by retirements. If Kap was in playing shape at the start of camp they probably would be doing better. I think he sucks, but at this stage, I think he would have done better the Gabert.

If you don’t have the players it is hard to coach to wins.

Shows how stupidly loyal you guys are until everybody else start passing your ring total. That’s the only thing you guys hold on to. As bad as the Redskins have been these past years…. They STILL managed to make the playoffs more than Dallas. Just saying…lol. Cowterds!!!!

No reason to go back to Romo, it would only hurt the development of Dak and the growth of this new team around him. Romo might have stats and has the heart of a competitor, but he hasn’t won squat in the league.

  41. mattbilleauthor says: Oct 2, 2016 10:19 PM

Very impressive game by Prescott, keeping his cool and leading them back after falling behind. Yes, the Cowboys benefited from some non-calls concerning movement on the offensive line, but once Dallas got rolling in the second half I don;t think it would have mattered. Kelly started off well with some surprise calls that had the defense reeling, but they got their act together once Garrett’s ball control offense took over. Elliot was a brilliant draft pick, something the Cowboys cannot always be accused of. My Dolphins should have stayed pat and taken him.

Typical skins fan, obsessed with the Dallas Cowboys. Are we bandwagon fans, or are we living in the past? I don’t think you can claim both.

Also your playoff comment is, of course, wrong. Over the past 10 years the Cowboys have been to the playoffs 4 times, the Skins have been 3 times. Cowboys have 2 playoff wins, the Skins have 0. Nothing to brag about really, just saying…..facts

Are you kidding me?? Your Redskins are pathetic!!! Beside my Cowboys already took care of your sorry team in Week 2. Worry about your own team, instead of taking about America’s Team!!!! Bengals your next!!!
