Rex Ryan claims he knew Jacoby Brissett was starting

Maybe Rex Ryan wasn’t pretending to be a reporter, after all.

Four days after he pretended to be “Walt Patulski of the Buffalo News” to pose a question to Patriots receiver Julian Edelman during a media conference call, Ryan said after a 16-0 win that his pregame sleuthing had paid off.

“My sources inside the Patriots building told me Jacoby Brissett would be the QB,” Ryan told reporters, via Matthew Fairburn of New York Upstate. “How’s that? I’ll stir some stuff up.”

It’s unclear whether Ryan was joking, but the Patriots likely wouldn’t put anything past him. The stunt with Edelman surely ruffled feathers, and there’s strong suspicion that Sunday’s pregame antics between safety Robert Blanton and Brissett were instigated by Ryan.

Regardless, circle October 30. That’s when the rematch happens in Buffalo.
