Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon suffers torn Achilles

The Falcons were thin at linebacker anyway because of injury, and they just got thinner.

According to Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com, Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon said he suffered a torn Achilles yesterday, which would obviously end his season.

Weatherspoon also tore an Achilles in 2014, and didn’t look like himself last year with the Cardinals.

But the Falcons needed the help, with De’Vondre Campbell (ankle) and Paul Worrilow (groin) also out with injuries.

The 28-year-old Weatherspoon was the Falcons’ first-round pick in 2010.

Much as I hate the Dirty Birds never like seeing a good player get injured. Hope for a speedy recovery Sean Weatherspoon. You are a talented player.

Sean Weatherspoon’s body was not meant to withstand the brutality a linebacker experiences in the NFL. I wonder if there will be a scientific way to measure a player’s susceptibility to these types of injuries in the future.

I hope he just retires while his health is still in good order. I hate to see players keep getting injured like this. It was tough seeing Thomas Davis get carted off yesterday after all he has been through.
