Rex now says he made up “sources” claim regarding Patriots’ starting QB

Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan applauds from the sideline during the second half of an NFL football game against the New England Patriots Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, in Foxborough, Mass. (AP Photo/Steven Senne) AP

First, Bills coach Rex Ryan posed as a reporter and asked Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman last week which quarterback would the Patriots would be starting in Sunday’s game.

After the Bills won the game, beating what many would term a surprise starter in Jacoby Brissett, Ryan then claimed he knew from “sources inside the building” that the Patriots were starting Brissett and not Jimmy Garoppolo.

Monday, Ryan was still talking — he loves to do that — and said he made up his “sources” claim.

“Absolutely [I had sources], as far as you guys know,” Ryan told reporters Monday, with a smile. “That’s just great. Because, man, I stirred the pot. Because you know they’re sitting back and going, ‘Who is it? Who is it?’ I was B.S.-ing the whole time.

“If people were worried about it, that’s awesome. That’s good. Let them think they got [someone inside].”

It’s a safe bet Patriots coach Bill Belichick isn’t laughing. Or wouldn’t be, if he ever did.

Only a loser like Rex would get excited over beating a NE team with its 3rd string QB. Great job Rex. When you get fired this year atleast you can say you beat a team with a third string QB. Loser

one of the most immature and dumbest adults i have ever seen

beats a 3rd string rookie with a ligament issue in his right thumb, and he acts like his 2nd win vs ne in his last 10 tries is somehow noteworthy

Just be happy with your pointless win.

You’re not making the playoffs and your September Super Bowls are becoming more and more pathetic by the year.

I know everyone give Rex hell and he does deserve some of it, but people give credit Belichek credit all the time for being able to do things, he is still one of the best coaches no matter who he has under center.

So Rex is still allowed to feel good about going to NE and shutting them out.

I saw the clip of him saying that on FNIA . I think it was obvious that he was being funny . I think it’s almost comical how this is even a story . The media can’t stand when this guy says just about anything, but hang on to every word he says . As for all of the Pats fans now chiming in , you lost . It happens sometimes . Even to Rex Ryan . Last week Brissett was all world , the next big thing , Belichik is a genius !! Today he’s a third string rookie QB with a bum thumb and the Bills have no class . Just stop and get out of your feelings . When the Pats destroyed the Texans , wasn’t that Brady posting a cartoon image mocking the Texans ? Or how about the one that he posted about the Broncos last year ? And that was laughed at and celebrated by the media . Now imagine if Rex or the Bills did that ? So please get out of your feelings with this . We all know , you’ll see the Bills in a month . You’ll get your revenge then . Just relax . Losses happen .

Funny how all of these Patriots fans (est. 2001) are acting like their team has dominated the league since its inception. The bandwagon TV must not play too many Tony Eason or Steve Grogan games, and I’m sure the entire New England fan base thinks the 1-15 record from the 1990 season must be a typo.

It won’t always be great, and I look forward to the day when they’re stuck looking at whatever scrub they bring in to replace their future HOF (assuming the HOF doesn’t care if you cheated in order to achieve your major accomplishments) Super Bowl-winning* quarterback and have to deal with mediocrity again. They got a taste of it and acted like a bunch of whiny babies (must get that trait from watching Brady for all these years), booing their injured third-string rookie quarterback after just two drives.

What a bunch of fair-weather fans. It was fun to watch them get a glimpse into the future, to include the quarter-full stadium in the fourth quarter when the team was still within two scores.

I doubt anyone was seriously saying we have the 3 best QBs in the AFC East. Brissett struggled to throw for over 100 yards against the Texans, that game was won on defense, special teams and Legarrette Blount. He was mostly unimpressive. What people WERE saying is that the only reason Brady is successful is that he is a system QB, yet clearly after watching 2 and a half games of Jacoby Brissett the system doesn’t matter if you don’t have a great QB to run it. I think the biggest takeaway from these first 4 games is that Garoppolo might be a very good NFL quarterback. So the glimpse that we got of a Brady-less Pats team actually looks even better than anyone thought. Nice mental gymnastics you conducted to come up with the opposite opinion though.

I have to laugh at inbred rube analysis like this.

The jealousy is so high knowing Boston is widely known as the best sports town on planet earth, you want to pretend the youngest of the 4 major sports franchises in Boston (Sox – 1901, Bruins – 1924 and Celts – 1946), somehow means the passion and support was different.

    LOL!

    Nice IQ you feature there.

Yes, all diehard Boston sports fans hated the sport of football, only until 2001, even though some of the oldest known games played in this country’s history goes back to the mid/late 19th century with Harvard/Yale.

Season tickets in the family since ’78 here, big mouth loser turd, and I remember fans lining Rte 95 in the snow wishing the team well on their to the airport both for the title game in Miami and the SB in New Orleans that year.

A bad or mediocre owner for much of its existence, has nothing to do with the rabid and passionate Boston/NE sports fan.

Even a child knows at this point, but your blatant jealousy is a delight!

2 Simple things for Bill’s fans. Find the rule in the NFL rulebook, pick any year and find where it reads is illegal to tape defensive signals. I am sure you won’t find it or answer the question Also explain how the Colt’s footballs also got below the legal PSI. When you children are done with that, then we can talk about this.
You beat a rookie 3rd string QB with a bad thumb and you think you deserve a reward for winning this game. Here is what you can do, make yourself a HUGE trophy to celebrate this win and put that in your Super Bowl Trophy Case. Or you can do what the Colt’s do and hang a participation banner. Now before you go on with your childish cheating comments, realize your team cheated against the Patriot’s in the past, I won’t do the home work for trolls and answer the above question before you get dominated once again in Buffalo. Oh, and by the way, if you believe the deflate gate garbage, realize the home team controls the footballs so how come Brady kept kicking your butt up in Buffalo all these years. Grow up children and learn to lose like a man and stop whining!

Then why did all former NFL coaches without an agenda, al come forward and defend BB from Goodell’s lies?

    We’re supposed to believe

    Fact:

It was ALWAYS legal and still is.

Rozelle and Tagliabue weren’t asleep for 50 years as commissioners, dummy.

The first order of business by Shotgun Roger was to send a memo out on 9.6.06 reinforcing the idea that the locations were part of the rule.

BB knew WHY that memo came out, so BB mocked Mangini the first chance he had AFTER the Jets tried to use TWO cameramen in January of 2007 in FOxborough.

If BB was guilty of something wrong, he would have easily been caught in 2006, not 2007.

I love the “RandyInRoxbury” handle. Don’t know too many white guys named Randy and they aren’t living in Roxbury. lmao

As for the Millennial Steelers fan moron, “Trailer Parking”, Bill Cowher said this:

“Everyone does that. We did it.”

He wasn’t just talking about trying to steal signals, but the process that Howard Mudd (Colts O Line coach under Dungy) said he did as well, which is to film the down and distance and the hand signals.

Regardless, many coaches thought it made little sense since team change their hand signals and it wasn’t really worth it.

The fact is, people are jealous BB works so hard and is so great, they wanted to find a way to weaken him at every turn, which is why Goodell pounced and lied about Spygate.

You can’t have Bud Grant, Chuck Knox and people like that, who are older coaches, who have NO association with BB, speaking so freely on it, being called liars after so many years in the NFL while believing the little silver spooned scumbag in Goodell.

You’re as phony a moron as Goodell is.

Goodell will never get away with this, either. At some point, it will be time to pay the piper. Lots of crazies out there.

Right @dontletfactsgetintheway, taping defensive hand signals is completely legal. You’re definitely allowed to know the other teams play before the ball is snapped. Moron.
    ___________________________________
I only asked you to find out where it is in the rule book where it says you can’t tape signals. In 2007, Goodell “only made illegal to tape in certain parts of the stadium”. Now since you called me a moron, could you please find where it says IT IS ILLEGAL to tape signals in the NFL rule book. You and your fellow morons have been issued a challenge but I don’t expect an answer because jealous children don’t deal in facts!
OH, if taping the signal helps them know the play before the ball is snapped, do they run the videotape of the signal taping to the coach before the play? Once again children, act like adults and set the jealousy aside!

    2010:

Bill Cowher: “You know, let me just say this: To answer your question, no, I don’t think so (it’s not an advantage for one team over another).

I just know as a head coach, you are always looking for a competitive edge. We had people out there trying to look at signals. We had guys go to games. They would tape the signal caller and also write it down. They would take it back and match up the signals with the game film and certain defenses with certain plays that were being called, particularly the defenses being called, to see if we could come up with some kind of an alert for a signal. So, what they did with videotaping the signal caller, people do it with the people in the stands!!

These people sitting there in the stands, looking at the signal, writing it down and matching up the 1st and 10 signal. Ok? Then you go back again and the 2nd and 10 and here’s the signal. You do that for a whole game.

You then go back and match up the defenses with the signal. And you can come up with what the signal was.

So, you don;’t need a video tape with what they were talking about doing. And people were doing it. WE were doing that. Everybody does that. You’re TRYING to gain a competitive edge. There is nothing wrong with that.

That’s why baseball players go through the mirage of signals. They’ve got all these different codes. That’s part of the competitive spirit of the game. I think it’s totally overblown. I think if you get caught (signals compromised), then do what we did and go to wristbands, you are worried about it. We started putting defenses on wristbands. Then you find a way to not get caught (signals compromised). When your good at something and people try steal from ya, I think it’s flattering.”

You may win Oct 31st but if you honestly think their going into Buffalo and winning by 30 you are truly delusional. Rex has that D hyped and ready to play at a high level. Last I checked Brady doesn’t play D and the Bills moved the ball with little effort on that so called elite defense with Tyrod Taylor. Dareus will be back and Lawson may be as well. IIRC the last time Tommy Boy had a frown outside of the Denver game was the 2nd game against the Bills.

And 2 more tidbits if I may. Pats fans crying over officiating is down right hysterical. And comparing a WR whose only cracked 1k once in what? 7-8 years? And needed over 100 catches to do it with arguably the GOAT against a WR whose avg’d 1k in his 1st 2 seasons with Kyle Orton and Tyrod Taylor. Watkins would be All-Universe with Brady throwing. Hilarious!!!

It amazes me how childish adults can be but then again my team never lost 4 straight Super Bowls and did cheat. People who live in glass houses …. and have a good night!

Your team never lost 4 straight superbowls, because they were never good enough to go to 4 straight superbowls. Fact.

Let me guess, you have an excuse.

    Excuses, denial, and tears.

It’s awesome that Rex is taking up so much real estate in your heads. God knows, there’s plenty of room. Enjoy the next 5 days. I know it’s eating you up inside. The more you deny it, the more it shows.

Good, Edelman would fall of this earth without Brady.
Darius? He is a pro bowler. But don’t let facts or football smarts get i the way if your idiot comments. And you call it pointless win but had you won, you’d be talking about what a great win it was.
It’s ok , you can admit that NE got outplayed and out coached. It happens from time to time. Sure you have 4 Super Bowls but you have none before BB and I suspect you will have none after he leaves.

Apparently so much winning hasn’t made Boston sports fans smarter. And let’s be honest, Buffalos roster is better except up and down. The difference is the QB and coach .

    ————-

LMAO, yeah, your drafts lately have been on NE’s level since 2010.

Youngest roster to ever win a SB in 2014 and the Pats are clearly loaded on both sides of the ball. Only a delusional Bills fan that lost to the Jets at home would proclaim what you just said.

    Good one!

Keep thinking that. That’s EXACTLY why you’re the Bills.

I am pretty sure JimmyG’s development has put to rest that it’s all Brady, too.

BB will fetch a 1st and 4th rder from an NFC team, probably the Bears, and you’ll still be as dumb as a bag of rocks.

Edelman’s hard work would allow him to succeed ANYWHERE.

Incredible athlete, resilient, smart and tough as nails.

Diva WRs from SEC schools are ALWAYS overrated. Keep that in mind the next time your stupid GM trades UP for one in the top 10 in a loaded WR draft.

Again, your jealousy is a delight.

The insecurity of Patriots fans is one of my favorite things on earth. Four Super Bowl victories* and you all are still convinced there is some vast conspiracy against your team simply because it cheated over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again and finally got caught. Are there still Patriots fans who really think BB is going to trade Garoppolo for MORE than a 1st round pick? You guys are honestly nuts. If he gets traded at all it would be for a 2nd-ish round pick. Bradford went for a 1st and that was from the most desperate team in football at the most desperate time, for a coach who’d had him before.

Do you really think everybody forgot about Matt Cassel getting 50 million in Kansas City and how that worked out? Maybe some of you NE fan posters are too young for that…

That’s what I glean from the comments saying this win doesn’t count because they were down to their 3rd string QB.
