Browns make roster swap, promote Hamlett

The Browns made a roster swap Monday, promoting tight end Connor Hamlett from the practice squad and waiving safety Don Jones.

Hamlett spent time in 2015 with the Jaguars, Eagles, Saints and Browns and finished last season on the Browns practice squad. He had a strong preseason showing this year but didn’t make the 53-man roster.

Jones, acquired via waivers from the Saints last season, had played in all four games on special teams this season. Jones has also played with the Patriots and has had two stints with the Dolphins.

I glad no other team claimed him from the practice squad. Hamlett looked great in the preseason. All I saw was a couple of places but he looks sure handed and agile and he is 6-7 !

If nothing else he’d probably be good in the redzone for ally-oops and FG/PAT blocks.
