Cardinals place Chris Johnson, Tyvon Branch on injured reserve

Running back Chris Johnson was having an impressive season for the Cardinals in 2015 when a fractured tibia sent him to injured reserve.

Johnson moved into a backup role after re-signing with the team this year, but he’s wound up in the same place. The Cardinals announced on Tuesday that they have placed Johnson on injured reserve due to the groin injury he suffered in last Sunday’s loss to the Rams.

Johnson ran 25 times for 95 yards and a touchdown in his four games with the Cardinals this season. Johnson is eligible to be the Cardinals’ one player designated to return from I.R., although that decision can’t be made for at least six weeks.

Safety Tyvon Branch will also be eligible for the designation after he was placed on injured reserve Tuesday. Branch also suffered a groin injury against the Rams and his absence may lead to Tyrann Mathieu’s return to slot corner duties.

The Cardinals waived punter Drew Butler with an injury settlement after he hurt his calf a couple of weeks ago. Ryan Quigley handled the punting and holding duties last Sunday.

To fill the open roster spots, the Cardinals promoted quarterback Zac Dysert and wide receiver Britten Golden from the practice squad and signed running back Kerwynn Williams.

Cards better fix their offensive line two weeks in a row the Oline has been Flogged. Iupati is no where up to how he was hyped. The center is non existent and their RT is plain horrible. If not fixed Palmer is going to take worse bearings. You get in Palmers face you stop the Cardinals

Branch is one of those really talented guys who can’t stay healthy for whatever reason.

So, end of the road for Chris Johnson, then? The more speed he loses the harder it is to justify keeping him around for any other reason.

The Cardinals are the saddest most over hyped team in the NFL. If the stadium did not have A/C their putrid Buckeye, Goodyear, Sourh Phoenix losers would not att me games. Nice stadium have tonadmit but if there ever was a term Bandwagon Fans? LOL. It’s the Cardinals

If they lose Thursday night, which I pray they do, Dan Bickleynwill have a feast. And Wolfly will drowned in his own saliva. If you never listen d to the pinhead Wolfly please do. He sounds like a homeless person that’s had too much to drink. BAnand Wolfly are the perfect combo. Two low class clowns that love to read their own headlines. Pray you are reading this Wolf. Learn how to speak pal. An embarrassment to. Broadcasting.

Seahawks fans are mad about being in second place again, that’s why they post on other teams boards. Truth is, they haven’t sniffed first place since 2014!
