The Jaguars have lost Luke Joeckel for at least half the season.

Joeckel has been placed on injured reserve with a knee injury he suffered Sunday at Wembley Field against the Colts. Under the NFL’s new rules, the Jaguars can decide in six weeks whether to bring him back after Week 12, or shut him down for the season.

The Outland Trophy winner as the best lineman in college football at Texas A&M, Joeckel went to the Jaguars with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2013 NFL draft. But he was a disappointment as a left tackle and has played left guard this season.

Patrick Omameh took Joeckel’s place as the left guard on Sunday.

Meanwhile the #1 overall pick didn’t win the Outland Trophy, wasn’t considered the best lineman in college football, played at a Mid-major but is still starting at left tackle and is still improving.

  2. To say he’s been a major disappointment would be a major understatement. He’s so bad they had to move him to guard. Regarding the previous poster, it does look like the Chiefs made the right choice when they selected Fisher over Joeckel. The Jags were smart not to pick up his option. Joeckel will be lucky to have a job next year. Fisher performed up to expectations and the Chiefs picked up his option then gave him a $48M contract. Joeckel could have probably received a similar contract. Instead, he’ll only be getting a fraction of what he could have got. He only has himself to blame for playing as poorly as he has.

  3. Oh no!!! Who is going to not block on the left side of the Jaguars offensive line?!?!

  4. Too bad for Bortles cuz Omameh is terrible. Can’t believe he’s still taking up a roster spot somewhere.

  5. Guy had slow feet and could not shift well left or right. I dont know if it had anything to do with his injury his rookie year but he always had slow feet after that.
