Bill Belichick says little, Tom Brady even less about Tom Brady’s return

FOXBORO, MA - MAY 24: A New Englad Patriots fan shows his support for quarterback Tom Brady during the "Free Tom Brady" rally at Gillette Stadium on May 24, 2015 in Foxboro, Massachusetts. The rally was held in protest of Brady's four game suspension for his role in the "deflategate" scandal. (Photo by Maddie Meyer/Getty Images) Getty Images

Patriots coach Bill Belichick didn’t have much to say Wednesday about the return of Brady.

But it was apparently far more than what Brady will say this week.

According to Phil Perry of CSNNE.com, Brady is not expected to conduct his normal Wednesday press conference today, because technically, he isn’t on the 53-man roster. Brady and Rob Ninkovich can practice with roster exemptions at the moment, and can be activated as late as Saturday and play this weekend.

The NFL told the team that until he was activated, he was exempt from the media responsibilities players normally have. He could speak to reporters if he chose, but it would probably be a surprise if he chose that route.

Belichick didn’t have much to add to the topic, saying repeatedly it was about the team and the game against the Browns, rather than any particular player.

Right now we’re focused on Cleveland,” Belichick said. “Trying to get ready to go in Cleveland. Can’t do anything about what was or wasn’t in the last four weeks. We’re into Cleveland week, and that’s all our focus is. Not worried about last week. Not worried about next week. Not worried about last year. Worried about this week against Clevland. That’s it. Period. This week. Cleveland. We’re focused on Cleveland this week. Period. Cleveland.”

It’s not quite “We’re on to Cincinnati,” but it was close.

Cleveland has been pretty competitive in their games, and I’m sure they’ll be fired up at home this weekend. I’m sure Belichick doesn’t think this will be easy, especially given NE’s tough games vs the Browns in recent years.

Brady has been hiding behind his agent, his lawyers, and the nflpa for almost two years. He’s a coward and obviously guilty because any innocent person wouldn’t hide, they would speak openly about it like Sharapova did. Let the weasel hide, America knows the truth.

He did speak openly about it. Both to ted Wells and in court while under oath. But I can see who you could have missed that. Deflategate didn’t get much press coverage the last two years.

    ……

Actually when disputes are in court, especially when the press is heavily involved, any lawyer worth his/her salt would advise their client to not speak with the press at all. And Brady did make several appearances and issued multiple statements on the subject. They are out there, you just have to look.
And “obviously guilty” is also something you can do some research on. Science not funded by the NFL completely exonerated Brady. All of Goodell’s major investigations have been riddled with problems and been torn apart yet somehow he is still credible?

Seeing as how the court proceedings had to do with the Commissioner’s authority per the CBA, the details of the crime would have no relevance if Brady wanted to speak out.
Not to mention it’s his name, his reputation, and his decision to address it, he chose not to proclaim his innocence or try to clear his name.

    …..

Seeing as though Ted Wells thought inane comments Brady made 4-5 years ago about Gronk spikes as “proof”, yea I would advise him to not put anything further out there either.

But, if you really want some detail, why not just read the appeal transcript? There is extensive information directly from Brady in there. And, if you read it from the start, you will see that not only did Brady ask to go under oath, his side asked for the transcript to be made PUBLIC. But the NFL denied the request, but Berman forced it to be made public anyway. And he has released several statements after that and has made appearances. To say Brady hasn’t made any public statements is to say you haven’t done a lot of research.

I saw yet another article from an MIT professor stating he has PROOF that in no way did the Pats or Brady cheat by letting the air out of the balls. How interesting. Why then did the ball boys text about it? Why then have these guys disappeared and never interviewed? Why did the Pats close ranks, only cooperate when forced to? Bill’s a smart guy, so is Brady. Seems they were very stupid in their handling of this whole matter SINCE DAY ONE. Odd, since we all know they were 100% innocent of any of the things they were accused of. I know Pats fans have an answer for everything, I would too if it was my team–but the team’s reaction and Brady’s response to this tells me all I need to know.

Really, Brady turned the NFL into a circus? The NFL front office via Mike Kensil did that all by themselves because they didn’t know that PSI drops in cold weather. And then Roger doubled down because he saw it as a chance to appease the owners who thought he was too soft on the Patriots for taping signals. How is it you are so upset with Brady and the Pats but don’t seem to mind all the lying and manipulating that the NFL has done and continues to do. Brady should not support the NFL in any way other than what is mandatory.

  62. factpurveyor says: Oct 5, 2016 6:56 PM

It’s amazing that the NFL was able to give small minded individuals something simple that they could understand. Broken telephone is a simplistic concept. That simple concept was useful in getting weak minded people to believe in a lie. The phone was a red herring meant to distract gullible dupes.

The NFL was not going to receive a telephone that is the personal property of someone. That’s the end of it. Brady’s only mistake was telling them that he destroyed it. That gave the NFL the ability to make those that cant understand simple science a simplistic concept to distract them.

They were never going to see the phone. They had no right to see it. Even if it was in pristine condition the NFL was not going to ever see it.

Science says that footballs deflated naturally.
