Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer out this week

AP

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians has gone back and forth this week, but he just made it official.

Quarterback Carson Palmer won’t play this week because of a concussion, and isn’t making the trip to San Francisco, per Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic.

Palmer suffered a concussion in last week’s loss to the Rams, and has yet to be cleared by an independent neurologist.

That leaves Drew Stanton at the helm Thursday night against the 49ers, in a matchup of 1-3. They promoted Zac Dysert from the practice squad so they’d have an active backup to Stanton.

  1. If Stanton lights it up, Palmer may still be suffering concussion symptoms for the following game.

  2. We (the 49ers) are the most popular team in the league, but since we are not playing to our fully capabilities the ratings will be done again this week.

  3. When the ratings are down again, is it because Palmer is out making the game uninteresting or because of Kaepernick? It’ll be the same reason as before, but now the media has another excuse for it.

  4. Sadly, I think my Niners are still the underdogs 😦 Never fear, Captain Checkdown will lead us to 200 yards of total offense, while going 3-of-10 on third down.

  5. Could Drew Stanton play any worse than Carson Palmer has the last 4 weeks. I don’t think so this might not be that huge downgrade.

Stanton might actually play better because Carson was horrible. Either way the cards are completely done.

    Go Hawks!

  6. Actually the Sonoran desert , Arizona, has one of the largest cardinal populations in the country.

In regard to the 9 ers no longer being in SF. The Jets and Giants don’t gen play in the state they are advertised

  7. Too bad we won’t be able to find out if Palmer could have been ready by Sunday.

Of course, it’s more important for the NFL Network to showcase itself with live football games than it is to actually protect the safety of the players, and preserve the integrity of the game.

This is why people laugh at Roger Goodell every time he talks about how important player safety is.

Can you atleast do away with the San Fran reference….they no longer play anywhere near that city. It’s 50 miles away, in Santa Clara.

You mean like the New Jersey Giants and Jets?

It’s the distance. Jets and Giants aren’t 50 freaking miles from New York. They are 11 give or take. You can be in a high rise, and see the stadium from NYC. Which is a 15-20 minute drive not over an hour.

  10. If there ever was any doubt how lame some of the comments are on PFT look no further than this article. The article is about a QB not playing in a game and yet it has turned into a stadium geography and bird habitat pissing match.

This should tell you how much anyone cares about whether a washed up QB plays tomorrow.

  12. The question is:
Will Jed York realize how terrible the 49ers roster is when Drew freakin Stanton beats the niners?

Jed you mutually parted the wrong guy

  13. Cardinals haters should know that Drew Stanton went 5-3 the last time Carson went out because of injury. They should also know that Seattle is still in second place, just like they’ve been for the past year and a half.

And if you are rooting for the Cards to fail, that’s pretty shortsighted. After all, the worse record they have the better the QB they will draft.

Least Carson can hold his head high for not being a proven CHEATER! Brady can’t say that

You do realize Palmer played for Pete Carroll don’t you? A.K.A get out of Dodge before the sheriff rides in and takes back his national championships.
Brady can hold his head high as a four time SB winning QB, 3 time SB MVP, the one and only QB to lead his team to 6 SB’s and the victim of a shameless frame job that failed miserably yet because in the NFL fair and right don’t count because the commissioner can do whatever the heck he wants. Carson can claim to be the second coming of the biggest choke artist in NFL playoff history. No need to name names, we all know who he is.

The only thing the NFL proved was that the language in the CBA trumps neutral scientific evidence and their own commissioner’s blatant lies and that they would go to any lengths to secure the legal precedent that case gave them. Knowing what we all know now assailing Brady is just a cheap salve to the wound of your team not repeating. It won’t help. No amount of venom changes the fact that your team lost the SB to them little 12. Try to have a little class.

Just a little perspective from a fan of a team that has beaten New England in the SB, twice.

Sure. As soon as we dump that silly New York reference for the Jets and Giants, the Dallas reference for the Cowboys and the Los Angeles reference for the future Inglewood Rams. 🙂

  17. So we can avoid having them all pointed out individually here are the ‘misnamed’ teams matched with their real locations:

    Orchard Park Bills
    East Rutherford Jets
    Miami Gardens Dolphin
    East Rutherford Giants
    Arlington Cowboys
    Landover Redskins
    Santa Clara 49ers
And coming soon the Inglewood Rams

For the nitpickers, save it. Glendale is in AZ, Nashville is in TN, Minneapolis is in MN, Charlotte is in one of the Carolinas and Foxboro is in New England

Some may argue Carson hasn’t showed up the last 4 weeks. His psyche is shot from his last game from last year.
    ______

Not just from his last game, but from his last 2 games of last year. The final regular season game, Seattle went into AZ and laid an absolute smack down on the Cards. It was 30-6 at half time when they pulled Palmer because they knew they had no shot of coming back. They followed that up by laying an egg in Carolina and have looked pretty bad overall since.

It’s still early though. The Seahawks started the year 2-4 last year and looked pretty bad. Then won 8 of the last 10 with most of those wins being blowouts. The Cards have talent, but until Arians can learn some humility, stop being a blowhard and doing things like publicly throwing his players under the bus, they’ll probably continue to look like a mess.
