Steelers cornerback Justin Gilbert was carted off the practice field Wednesday, per multiple reports.

Gilbert was listed as limited on the team’s injury and participation report Wednesday with a knee injury. In-season practices are closed, and the Steelers by rule don’t have to provide any further details.

The Steelers acquired Gilbert in a trade with the Browns last month and he’s played in three of the Steelers’ four games. A first-round pick of the Browns in 2014, Gilbert struggled on and off the field in his first two seasons and was not in the plans of the Browns’ new regime.

Hopefully not a serious injury because he just took his first few snaps on defense last week and looked pretty good actually. He’s earned Tomlin’s praise for his work in picking up the playbook more and more each week. With all of the other injuries on the team he was quite possibly in line for an expanded role on special teams this week if not on defense.

Sucks for this dude. He was expecting a fresh start but he didnt even see the field for the Steelers. Hopefully it’s not serious so he has another chance of living up the potential many saw in him coming out of his college.

Anyone who cheers about injuries is a punk and it doesn’t matter who you are.

Reports out of Pittsburgh were that he was working hard, which has always been his biggest problem. Pittsburgh is a lot different team culture and have a much better season as a result than Cleveland, pretty much every year. He’s always had mad athleticism and potential. I hope it’s not too bad, it’d be nice to see what some legit work ethic, self discipline and attitude change could due for him this year. Injuries suck but every team gets their share, and Pittsburgh will have to roll with it. Good luck to him.

    Go Steelers!.
