The Panthers have an extra day to get ready, but it looks like they might be without both their quarterback and their left tackle.

According to Bill Voth of Black and Blue Review, neither Cam Newton nor Michael Oher was on the field when practice began today.

Both are in the concussion protocol, so they apparently have not been cleared by an independent neurologist yet.

Oher missed last week’s game, and they shifted right tackle Mike Remmers to his spot and brought Daryl Williams in to play right tackle. That would be the plan again this week, though they had plenty of protection problems in Atlanta.

None of those problems resulted in Newton’s concussion, that was more of his lack of protecting himself.

If Newton isn’t cleared, Derek Anderson would start for the Panthers. Anderson was the first player on the practice field today, proof that he takes his job real serious.
