The 49ers and Cardinals already knew they’d be without some key players for Thursday’s game, and there were no surprises as the teams submitted their inactive lists.
As expected, Drew Stanton starts at quarterback for the Cardinals with Carson Palmer out — and not on the trip — due to a concusison.
Cardinals first-round pick Robert Nkemdiche is inactive, which is noteworthy given that the Cardinals have two defensive tackles, Ed Stinson and Josh Mauro, out due to injury. Cardinals Coach Bruce Arians said this week he wasn’t sure Nkemdiche was ready to take on the defensive responsibilities involved with playing the 49ers.
For the 49ers, Garrett Celek starts at tight end in place of the injured Vance McDonald, Rashard Robinson starts at safety for the injured Jimmie Ward and Nick Bellore starts at linebacker in place of NaVorro Bowman, who was placed on injured reserve Thursday to make room for Aaron Lynch, who’s coming off of suspension.
