Bills activate Dareus, place Salas on IR

The Bills officially activated defensive tackle Marcell Dareus on Friday.

Dareus served a four-game suspension to start the season for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. He had returned to the team earlier in the week on a roster exemption, and the activation means he’ll be available for Sunday’s game at the Rams.

Dareus, 26, is a two-time Pro Bowler. He’s in his sixth season with the Bills.

The Bills created a roster spot for Dareus by placing wide receiver Greg Salas on injured reserve. The loss of Salas is another blow to an already depleted receiving corps; Sammy Watkins was placed on injured reserve last week.

  1. I’d like to think he will come back in and right away make a huge difference, but I believe the Bills would be better off letting him go through another full week of practice before throwing him in… Physically and mentally he is probably a step or two behind the guy he will be replacing, so IMO another week will do him well and help prevent him from getting injured. Maybe they will ease him into the game with a few less snaps?
