Heads up: Jared Cook gets a surprise with his chicken wings

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - SEPTEMBER 18: Jared Cook #89 of the Green Bay Packers is tackled by Trae Waynes #26 of the Minnesota Vikings during the fourth quarter of the game on September 18, 2016 at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Sometimes when you’re trying to relax on your day off, you just can’t beak going out for some wings with your buddies.

But Packers tight end Jared Cook got something he didn’t expect when he went out to Buffalo Wild Wings.

Cook turned thousands of stomachs today when he tweeted out an image of a surprise he got in his order on Tuesday.

I’m neither a chef nor a poultry expert, but that is absolutely not a wing, and now the people who ought to know better are looking into it.

According to Richard Ryman of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, a manager confirmed that Cook ate at the Ashwaubenon location on South Oneida Street, but sent reporters to the corporate headquarters for comment. Their executives, clearly running around like, well, chickens with their heads cut off, deferred to PR firm FleishmanHillard.

“Buffalo Wild Wings takes food preparation, service and quality extremely seriously and we are looking into this situation,” their statement read. “We’ve reached out to Jared Cook and our suppliers for more information.”

Cook later tweeted to the Wilde and Tausch Show on ESPNWisconsin that the restaurant told him “unfortunately this happens because the chicken is fresh.”

Frankly, it’s easy to be grossed out by a stray deep-fried chicken head. Or, you could consider it an adventure. Frankly, this has all kinds of possibilities, and as much as anything, I want to eat Christmas dinner with Cook and order the duck now.

You don’t have to have the last name Cook to know that this isn’t cooked right.

I’m not sure why this is a problem. Meat eaters know that their meat used to have heads, yeah?

  3. corduroy88 says: Oct 7, 2016 3:01 PM

This is the NFL getting free advertising through Buffalo Wild Wings to help promote their expansion to China.

LOL and it’s not even BBQ’d!

Get over that high ankle bro and give us our TE.

There’s nothing wrong with that. Nothing. That’s normal here. I love it.

That’s a loon head. That BWW gets its food from the regional distribution center in Minnesota.

    So, how was it?

  9. grabgrabgrab says: Oct 7, 2016 3:08 PM

Gross!!! A bird’s head!!! That’s insane. Somebody is losing their job over there in Green Bay.

Excellent timing by PFT, I am just glad I didn’t have the chicken nuggets I made, in my mouth when I saw that picture.

How did the cook or his server not notice that before bringing it out to his table?

Maybe Don Corleone is sending him a message.

It’s Green Bay, WI, what or where else would you expect something like this to happen? When the rest of the country eats wings, they have to figure our where to send the heads and “aholes” so why not some state where the population is inebriated 95 % of the time and wouldn’t know the difference.

  14. 250dollarnflowner says: Oct 7, 2016 3:32 PM

they have a BWW in WI? The next thing you know, they’ll get a couple more stoplights and grocery stores in GB!

I was in China eating some delicious soup when, with my chopsticks, I pulled out the pigeon head. My boss said, “It is good luck. You may set it to the side.” I set it to the side and kept eating.

That my first day in mainland China. I stayed there four years. For the first two years, they didn’t televise NFL games, but fortunately I found Mike Florio and read about what I was missing.

Maybe he picked the wrong place and went to a restaurant named “Buffalo Wild Heads” rather than “Wings”.

Who gets lemon pepper wings? Why can’t we see any sauce for the “extra wet” wings? Was the neck at least tasty? I have so many questions.

  19. cheeseisfattening says: Oct 7, 2016 3:44 PM

Eddie Lacy would have just ate it.

  20. cheeseisfattening says: Oct 7, 2016 3:46 PM

I saw a clip of the Packers latest practice and Eddie Lacy is looking even more hefty than at the Packer’s last game. It looks like there was no P90x over the bye week, huh?

    Quoting article lead:
“You just can’t beak going out for wings…”

    That was my first clue.

B-Dubs is a decent place. I travel for business so I get to experience many locations. My review is that some of the locations are better managed than others, the beer is pricey unless you are willing to tolerate Bud Light, but on a whole they lack consistency from how long they are cooked, the amount of sauce, etc. Having said all that, I must admit I never had the problem of getting too many Heads versus Wings or Drums!

This is very disappointing because it happened at the finest restaurant in Green Bay.

    not the point,
the point is that the chicken head is not considered appetizing
    by some cultures, countries.

I’m sure if a vegetarian wanted to eat an apple and someone gave them the trunk or the leaves of the tree, he or she would consider it acceptable.

their is a reason why stones only smoke buds and not steams, leaves or the seeds.

Finally some truth in advertising, that is truly one wild looking buffalo wing

  31. finchy74 says: Oct 7, 2016 4:06 PM

Who would have ever guessed that when processing millions of chickens, an animal which nature has sadly not made convenient for mass dissection and shipment, an error may occasionally be made.

Also shocking: Someone living in sconnie gorging themselves on chicken wings for lunch.

And heads. I bet he ate that chicken head.

  32. stylzinc says: Oct 7, 2016 4:09 PM

At least he knows he definitely got served bird.

  36. jwcarlson says: Oct 7, 2016 4:18 PM

Oh know, proof that our food used to be alive?!? Say it ain’t so!

One chicken head in a zillion wings BWW’s has sold this last week. Hard to believe that mechanically killing and separating chicken might have an extra part or two included, eh?

  37. stellarperformance says: Oct 7, 2016 4:22 PM

I’ll bet cheesisfattening just about wet his pants with excitement when he saw a Packer story including food.

    That’s his signature “thing,”………food-centric insults and put-downs.

His mother was the lunch lady, I suspect.
