Earlier this week, there was a report that Raiders running back Latavius Murray was unlikely to play against the Chargers this weekend and it proved to be on the money.

The Raiders ruled out Murray on Friday after he missed the entire week of practice due to a toe injury. It will be the first game that Murray has missed since the 2014 season.

With Murray out of the lineup, the Raiders will go with a pair of rookies in the backfield. Fifth-round pick DeAndre Washington has run 23 times for 147 yards so far this season and Jalen Richard, who was undrafted, has 144 yards on 17 carries, so it should be interesting to see how they do with an expanded workload.

Of course, the Raiders may opt to throw the ball a bit more come Sunday. The Chargers placed cornerback Jason Verrett on injured reserve and cornerback Brandon Flowers has been ruled out due to a concussion.
