Ravens place Maxx Williams on injured reserve

The Ravens added tight end Daniel Brown to the roster earlier this week and they have tight end Darren Waller coming back from a four-game suspension, which means they won’t have much problem finding players to fill the role Maxx Williams held for the first four games of the season.

Williams won’t be in that role anymore because the team placed him on injured reserve Friday. Williams hurt his knee against the Raiders last Sunday.
The role Williams was playing for the Ravens wasn’t a particularly big one as he was in on just 54 snaps with the offense and didn’t catch any passes. The 2015 second-round pick played almost the same amount of snaps on special teams and caught 32 passes for 268 yards and a touchdown during his rookie season.

There was no corresponding move announced to go with Williams’ departure from the 53-man roster, but Waller hasn’t been formally activated yet and could take the spot ahead of Sunday’s game.
