Paxton Lynch to start for Broncos vs. Falcons

Yet another rookie quarterback is starting in the NFL. And no, it’s still not No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff.

This time it’s Broncos first-round pick Paxton Lynch, who will start Sunday against the Falcons, according to Mike Klis of KUSA.

The plan in Denver was that Trevor Siemian would start if the non-throwing shoulder injury he suffered last week healed in time. But Siemian’s shoulder is still hurting him, and now the Broncos are hoping he’ll be good to go for Thursday night against the Chargers.

Of course, it’s possible that Lynch could play well enough on Sunday against the Falcons to earn the job even if Siemian gets healthy by Thursday. Siemian has been a pleasant surprise this season, but the Broncos eventually expect Lynch to be their starter.

Lynch played well in relief of Siemian last week completing 14 of 24 passes for 170 yards.

That injury might have cost Siemian a sizable chunk of future coin. He was playing pretty good ball.

We’re finally starting to see more of this horrible group of rookie QBs that everyone was talking about before the draft. We’ve seen Wentz and Prescott. We haven’t seen Goff or Conner Cook. By the time all these guys get on the field, we might be calling this horrible group the greatest of all time. Of course, that will take several years, but these guys are looking pretty good so far. By the way, who are all those draft experts, and why do we listen to them. John Elway seems to be able to find good ones every year.

As a Falcons fan, this kinda sucks. I wanted the Falcons to go against the best Denver had to offer. I didn’t want any doubt or excuses if they win or lose from either franchises’ fan base. I truly am curious about this Falcons team. They have me on the fence and a win here against a quality opponent would help us to figure out who this team is.

40 QBs have thrown at least 24 passes this season (rough equivalent of a full game), meaning that 1/4 of the way through the season, 1/4 of the teams have had their starter miss a game more or less, and that doesn’t include Tom Brady who suits up this weekend for the first time. It’s a two quarterback league, for sure.

  7. milehighmagik7 says: Oct 8, 2016 6:16 PM

Wanted him to sit a learn the offense more but oh well let’s roll. The haters will be here soon saying the Broncos are done cause hey they’ve been wrong all year. 1st was Defense not gonna be as good..wrong..Can’t win with Semian..wrong..Now it’s the division is theirs now cause the rookie is in…It’s funny how you haters pin your chancea on if Denver is bad enough to allow you to win instead of actually being good enough to outright win…Haters in 3, 2, 1…..

Let’s see what this kid has. A lot of QBs from this class has seen playing time but make no mistake, Dak Prescott is the leader and most talented of the bunch. He will hold the fort down for America’s Team until the future superbowl mvp Tony Romo arrives. Thank God I’m a Cowboys fan.

This is smart. Lynch has taken most of this weeks snaps. If Siemian were to start and re-injure himself then Lynch would have to start his first game on a short week against a division opponent. This is a good team to go against first off. Their defense isn’t their strength. We should be able to run and our line should hold off their rush enough for Lynch to make his reads. Everyone will be watching our defense shut down their offense and make Ryan’s life miserable.

  11. ryanc2015 says: Oct 8, 2016 6:47 PM

He’s definitely a better athlete. I just hope his decision making is in on par with Trevor.

  12. mrwalterisgod says: Oct 8, 2016 6:59 PM

Good team to start against. Poor defense, soft mentality. A QB who can only succeed against bottom feeding defenses. I think he’ll play well and Denver will win.

  13. djrando7 says: Oct 8, 2016 7:25 PM

Have a feeling that this is the door opening for Lynch to take the reigns. As good as Trevor has been, I just feel like Lynch has too much more to offer.

Lol – well, your offense is still going against the Broncos’ D. And for what it’s worth, the Falcons’ D is ranked #30. That alone makes ANY opposing QB look good. Just be prepared to be surprised by Paxton’s arm tomorrow.

Denver is a great team. They’ll be fine with Lynch, heck, they could win with Peyton Manning.

The average IQ of all starting QBs this week just dropped at least 10 points.

LMAO. What will be Falcons fans excuses when they lose to a qb making his first start?
Besides, if you’ve truly been following the NFL for the past season and a half you should realize that whoever is playing qb for the Broncos is the least of your worries when playing them!

Kubiak brought Lynch in off the bench last week on 3rd and7 right before the 2 minute warning with a 14-7 lead. Kubiak had him pass. Then after a 3 and out by Tampa, instead of having Lynch take a knee or hand off to run out thr clock and hold the lead, he had Lynch throw 7 more straight passes. If he would have thrown a pick 6, we would have gone in tied with Tampa having the momentum. Instead he led them to a FG to go into the locker room 17-7. Everything this team does is working.

    Two words: Bird Seed.

    Falcons 27-7

  22. realtruthteller100 says: Oct 8, 2016 8:10 PM

good. the league could use fewer simians playing qb IMO.

  23. scrotiemcb says: Oct 8, 2016 8:43 PM

Siemian need only be patient for the end of 2017. Then the Texans, finally acknowledging the dumpster fire they have at QB, will likely ‘outbid’ Elway and lock up the Northwestern product for a cool $38 million a year.

You know its jealousy when u think qb iq is going down with brady back, you haters make me laugh

  25. eglsfan says: Oct 8, 2016 9:10 PM

God living in Denver the debate was maddening…..didnt matter cause of their “greatest D of all time” you want crap sports talk….tune in to 104.3 the fan….should be called the Homer……

  26. milehighmagik7 says: Oct 8, 2016 9:31 PM

Yes we hate on Brady…I hate the way Denver owns him…I hate the way that Denver is the only team in the NFL that Tommy Boy doesnt have a winning record against. I hate the way our D came after him last year that he was so scared he missed a wide open Gronk for the 2pt conversion to tie the game..You are correct we hate

  27. milehighmagik7 says: Oct 8, 2016 9:45 PM

The Homer really….coming from some1 called eaglesfan..You must not be familiar with 94.1 in Philly no bigger homers then them. Not to mention the worat homer of all Jaworski. Listening to him do Eagles games is the worst. Everyone is the greatest in the NFL even the water boy. If 104.3 are such homers then please tell me why most of them picked Cincy to win last week?

  28. sc5000 says: Oct 8, 2016 9:58 PM

Prediction- He plays so well and his physical skills are so impressive he never relinquishes the job.

Some high quality legal weed and Siemian would have been good to go.

  33. exinsidetrader says: Oct 9, 2016 8:13 AM

This is the Russell Wilson model: get above-average play from a well-below average paid QB and use the rest of the money to improve the defense.

  34. intrafinesse says: Oct 9, 2016 9:39 AM

Too bad for Siemian. I anted to see him get more playing time, to give him a chance for the future.
Had he done well for many games, the broncos could have traded him for a lot.

I think it makes for a more compelling story to have Siemian turn out to be the better QB than Lynch.

I dont necessarily agree. Lynch has the physical attributes of a superstar franchise Quarterback. Bazooka of an arm, big guy, good athlete. Having a true franchise quarterback workout is the better long term story for Denver. Not to mention it makes them more marketable. Trevor Siemian seems like an A+ guy, but he was never gnna get TV executives all hot and bothered.

doesnt matter who starts for the donkeys.
as long as the WWNFL keeps their biased zebras on the field, donks will continue to get every break in the book!
