Titans overwhelm Tannehill, Dolphins

Titans running back DeMarco Murray had another big game, and Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota had his best game of the season.

Add that to a pass rush that overwhelmed a makeshift Dolphins offensive line and Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill, and the Titans cruised to a 30-17 victory. The Titans almost doubled up the Dolphins in total yardage, 398-200.

The Titans sacked Tannehill six times and picked him off twice.

Murray ran for 121 yards. Mariota threw three touchdown passes to three different receivers and also ran for a 5-yard score. The game was tied, 14-14, at halftime, but the Titans kept the ball out of the Dolphins’ hands in the second half and kept hitting Tannehill when the Dolphins had it.

The Dolphins managed just eight first downs and ran 41 total plays.

The Titans move to 2-3 and host the Browns next week. The Dolphins fall to 1-4 and have lost seven of their last nine games dating back to last season.

Overwhelming Tannehill and the Dolphins isn’t exactly what I’d call a challenge.

  2. phinland says: Oct 9, 2016 4:10 PM

How much longer is Tannebust gonna keep getting a pass??? The dude is pure garbage.

Matt Moore gives us a better chance to win at this point.

Hopefully the Dolphins will keep losing so they can draft the top quarterback coming out in the draft.

Tannehill sucks. The only person who thinks he’s a franchise quarterback is their owner.

Jim Schwartz didn’t have his unit carry him off the field this time. What a loser!!!! Hey Jim you had your shot here for 5 years and you did Jack and $hit….

It was 21-14 at the half.

The best QB from the 2012 draft was Kirk Cousins.

Time to pull the plug on Hennehill. Honestly he was better on his rookie year than now. This is the worst Miami team I have seen maybe in the 45+ years I have rooted for this team.

Tough sledding for Gase when you’re trying to hide your QB every week, you have no running game, and your defense had no NFL caliber linebackers.

  10. maust1013 says: Oct 9, 2016 4:34 PM

18 pass attempts, 2 int’s. That Gase is quite the QB whisperer.

  11. fishyinalittledishy says: Oct 9, 2016 4:39 PM

Starting to have concerns with Gase. Why did he not have Tannehill run more, bootleg, screen more. Short sharp passing over the middle, slants. Tannehill’s game is limited reads, throwing on the run, kind of a throw what you see kind of game, just to mix it up a little. To have him stand there behind a wall of China dolls shows me Gase can not adjust. Tannehills thought process is slow he is not and never will be a pocket passer. He has no awareness he is not a born QB. But he is serviceable, he throws well on the run and can run. Also the Dolphins must have the dumbest players in the league with all those stupid bonehead penalties. Tackle that part of the game that the Dolphins seem to forget is quite important. I might be wrong here but why does every opposition player make the first man miss. What a shambles all round. Gase get your out of your a*s and scheme for what you have and not what you want.

Dolphins are lacking a franchise quarterback and running back.

  13. bjchit says: Oct 9, 2016 4:42 PM

    Russell Wilson?

  14. canetic says: Oct 9, 2016 4:43 PM

Fire Tannenbaum. Fire Gase. Cut Tannehill. Cut Suh. Draft some players with heart and desire. The only player on that team with any fire is Jarvis Landry and they barely get him the ball.

And these are the Days of the Dolphins lives.

  16. slickspielman says: Oct 9, 2016 4:51 PM

With the 1st pick in the 2017 NFL draft the Miami Dolphins trade the pick to the NY Jets for Ryan Fitzpatrick and Nick Mangold’s sister to play Left Tackle.

My team is a dumpster fire. Gase, is Tannehill the guy? Do you really need a whole season to figure this out??

It really is embarrassing for me to be a fan of the Fins.

  20. mmack66 says: Oct 9, 2016 5:22 PM

Remember when beachsidestockmarketcrash said she didn’t think the Dolphins would lose another game?

  21. polksaladandy says: Oct 9, 2016 5:24 PM

The only positive is that dear old Coach Don will have no recollection of this lost season.

  22. finfansince68 says: Oct 9, 2016 6:05 PM

I had many pleasant thoughts of Miami finishing at least
8-8 or maybe 9-7…..but after enduring these first 5 games –
I’m just glad we got that gift from Cleveland –
Because 0-16 would have been completely unbearable!

  23. tacowrecker says: Oct 9, 2016 6:26 PM

I didn’t expect a lot out of Miami’s offense this year, considering the OL issues, unwisely banking on brittle Arian Foster at RB etc. I DID, however, think that all the highly paid defensive talent they brought in would keep them in games. So far, Suh, Maxwell, Williams etc. have done nothing. Fins would be better off with a bunch of undrafted rookies. Least they’d be hungry

  24. gonzolo4 says: Oct 9, 2016 6:58 PM

That’s it, I quit. Miami has apparently quit on me, I can no longer support this trash. I’d settle for mediocrity at this point, the phins flat out suck, and it starts with Tannehill.

I just watched an abbreviated replay of the game – JUST to look at the Defense. I will just say it was pathetic!
NO pass rush – NO run stopping & Maxwell is
completely worthless & useless to even keep on the roster + Suh & the DL looked confused, like they didn’t know how to play together – NO cohesion at all! NO LB to speak of though Alonso is trying, they still can’t stop a 3rd and long with the current secondary. Roethlisberger is gonna have a big game next Sunday if they don’t somehow figure out how to motivate this Defense!

Fin fans are super mad. Don’t be. The Titans aren’t much better.

  28. darkcyde252 says: Oct 11, 2016 12:42 AM

Don’t worry once they’re eliminated from the playoffs Tannehill will win just enough meaningless games to buy himself another season and ruin the draft position
