The Chargers and Raiders are off to a frenetic start. There just aren’t many points to show for it.

The Raiders hold a 3-0 lead late in the first quarter. The teams traded turnovers to start the game, then a Sean Smith interception late in the quarter set up the Raiders with great starting position at the Chargers 32.

The Raiders couldn’t capitalize, though, and Sebastian Janikowski missed a 50-yard field goal.

Antonio Gates fumbled in the red zone on the first Chargers possession. That was another missed opportunity for a Chargers team that had started the game with a Brandon Mebane interception of a Derek Carr pass.

Carr is 8-of-14 to start. He thought he had an early touchdown but Amari Cooper wasn’t able to get his second foot down inbounds and the Raiders settled for a field goal.
