Kyle Rudolph on 5-0 Vikings at the bye

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - OCTOBER 3: Kyle Rudolph #82 of the Minnesota Vikings, and quarterback Sam Bradford #8, celebrate after connecting for a touchdown in the second quarter of the game against the New York Giants on October 3, 2016 at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Vikings unexpectedly have won their first five games of the season, making them the last undefeated team in the league. They’ll remain undefeated for at least another week, because they have a bye in Week Six.

Tight end Kyle Rudolph, a week after welcoming twin girls into the world, paid a return visit to PFT Live on Monday to discuss the latest win, a 31-13 drubbing of the Texans, and the team’s mindset entering the week off.

Fueled by a stout defense and an offense that finds contributors anywhere and everywhere, the Vikings have an average victory margin of 11.2 points and have surrendered a league low 12.6 points per game.

Check out the interview, and make a guess in the comments on the over-under prop bet that was identified early in the discussion.

    Twin girls. Congrats Kyle.

Not hating on the 5-0 start at all. Zimmer is coaching at an elite level. But Bradford is fools gold. Maybe he’s this year’s Carson Palmer and has a career year…in that case, you guys are a legit threat to win it all. Or…he “Bradfords” you and gets hurt. He’s been made of glass his entire career, even college. I’m not rooting for it, don’t get me wrong. I’ll just believe it when I see it. Good start though.

Everson Griffen, or is it Griffin, wasn’t so lucky.

Seriously, what kind of professional sports organization does this to one of their star players? Embarrassing.

Because that’s what the Vikings do.

    Very true, Media.
Winning is the ultimate barometer over style points and moral victories.
And Everson obviously displayed a great deal of grace and humility.
    Talented player too.
But you have to admit, for a professional sports franchise, this would be an extremely embarrassing way to treat a rookie, let alone a 6 year pro bowl vet.

Guys, I hate to break it to you, but your brand of nonsense rings pretty hollow when your target is 5-0 with a better defense than your organization has ever put on the field.

Do you honestly think you’re going to bother fans of this team when they’re steamrolling the league week after week? Heck, their QB practically hopped off the greyhound bus from Philly and onto the field in week 2 and they still beat you.

Instead of worrying about the Vikings, worry about Dallas coming to town. Two 1st half interceptions and The Beav’s bland play calling might allow you to squeak by the Giants, but probably not the Cowboys.

Our best shot at a Title wasn’t the Seahawks’ game.
It was in 2010 when we beat the Steelers in the Super Bowl.
Remember? Oh, what a glorious feeling that was.

And you better stop with all of this “Rodgers is just average” talk.
That would just fly right in the face of the Barneys’ favorite diatribe.
You know, that the Packers are only any good because of Favre/Rodgers.
As if they were just lucky the last 20 some years.

No, then you might have to admit to something a little more obvious and true.
That the Packers are a well run organization with a talented roster that continues to win despite their QB appearing to be mortal after all.
An organization that is even clearly capable of spelling all of their players name correctly.

    SKOLOLOL……..is right!

Really? Starting a guy at QB you signed 10 days ago, losing your all-pro RB during the game, and you say every single intangible was in the Vikings favor? Whatever helps you sleep at night…Would have been a beat down if they could just fall on some fumbles.

The most awesome play I ever saw was when Josh McCown threw a bullet of a Hail Mary, and Nate Poole made a diving catch in the corner of the end zone, sending the Packers to the playoffs and making the Vikings the 2nd team ever to start 6-0 and miss the playoffs.

    ^^^^^^^^^^

I’m going to pile on here.

I appreciate your comment that we earned all five victories. That showed class.

But to say that we only beat you by three is very disingenuous. Yes, it was our home opener in a brand new stadium.

But we were starting a QB that had never seen a Viking playbook two weeks before the game. The Vegas line for the games was the Packers by 1.5. AP goes down to injury after only his 12th carry. Kalil is playing injured and goes on IR after the game.

Some would think that the Packers should have won that game easily.

You are being very optimistic predicting the Packers to be one of the top two NFC teams.

Until they beat a team with a winning record, the Packers 3 – 1 record is suspect.

Right now (and I know things can change), I would put the Packers below the Cowboys, Eagles, Seahawks, Falcons and Vikings.

The Packers are like the Redskins and the Rams – winning record – but not really performing well.

Rodgers hasn’t played well since last October. In your victory over the Giants Sunday night, it took him 45 passes to get 259 yards – 5.8 YPA. He was picked off twice and had a QB rating of 65.

This has got to be a serious concern for any reasonable Packer fan. It’s nearly a whole year of continued subpar performance from a guy that had been considered a top 5 QB.

Right now, he’s not even close to being a top 10 QB.

  42. mnvikes1961 says: Oct 11, 2016 9:10 AM

Can we just get beyond Game 2 already?

The Packers were total DOMINATED in the game- Rodgers looked confused- hurried- and beaten. Bradford and Diggs lit-up your secondary. I don’t know what part of the game you missed.

How about we make little buttons for you that say “We only lost by 3” and you can proudly wear them on your chest since that seems to be your biggest accomplishment of the season- good?

  43. allight59 says: Oct 11, 2016 12:19 PM

I don’t how a team can get through that brutal schedule of the Jaguars, Lions and Giants with a 3-0 record and still be #3 on your power rankings. That is just absolutely brutal. Especially when you consider each game was a nail biting 1 score game. Very elite showing so far.

I’m sure it was, because you obviously care more about the outcome of Vikings games than any other team’s games every week. You obviously don’t have a favorite team, you just have a team you hate the most. Any real Packer fan would say the most awesome play they ever saw was one that a Packer player(s) did to win a game.
