Steelers defensive end Cameron Hewyard will miss 2-3 weeks with a hamstring injury, NFL Network reported Monday.

That would be considered good news for the Steelers. Heyward needed an MRI Monday after he was injured in Sunday’s game, and the 2-3 week timeline indicates Heyward avoided major injury.

Barring a miraculous recovery, Heyward will miss a start for the first time since he was drafted in 2011. Heyward has three sacks this season. He had seven sacks last season.

He left Sunday’s win over the Jets in the first quarter.

The Steelers are at the Dolphins this week, then host the Patriots, then have a bye week before playing at the Ravens Nov. 6.
