Decker will have season-ending surgery

Jets wide receiver Eric Decker will have season-ending surgery. The Jets placed him on their injured-reserve list Wednesday morning.

Decker has been out with a partially torn rotator cuff suffered in late September.

Decker has had at least 74 catches in each of the last four seasons, and his loss is a significant one for a struggling Jets team that sits at 1-4.

The Jets claimed wide receiver Jeremy Butler on Tuesday. Second-year wide receiver Devin Smith remains on PUP while recovering from a torn ACL suffered late last season.

    What s shame.

I don’t feel sorry for any overpaid prima-donna who chooses the awful Jets for the money, selfishly so, to help sabotage their cap position more and more.

And then, he and Marshall forced Woody to overspend on Fitzpatrick, yet again, because the Jets front office doesn’t know what “leverage” means.

    LMAO

Tough hit. I don’t even know who their tight ends are except for that guy from Tampa.

The Jets are in rough shape. They’re still better off than the Fins though.

Another wasted season in New York. Thank you Jets,

Looks like the Bills are good for 2nd place in the AFC East. They may not even have to win another game, given how poorly the Fins and Jets are playing.

Where’s the high priced talent on the defensive line? The Steelers banged up offensive line steamrolled them for a full 60 minutes last week. . Add up all the dollars you’re paying Revis and the no show defensive lineman, and what have you got? A team that will be officially DOA by Halloween.

Are Pats fans here cheering Decker’s injury because of how a few Jets fans acted 8 years ago? The Jets season is over, so let it go already.

Nah, we don’t cheer injury. We do however get a good chuckle out of Big Ben complaining about practice being too hard.

Bowles is part of the problem. His game day performance has been poor, with no half time adjustments, clock mismanagement, poor challenges, and being too conservative, such as punting in the 4th quarter on 4th and 1 when down by 11.

Hopefully the Jets tank and can draft a good QB for teh first time in 50 years.

You all hate Goodell for the Deflategate nonsense, but I bet you forget how Goodell dealt with Spygate. Yeah, we know that “everyone does it”, but why did he destroy the tapes if there was nothing to hide? Better check those memory banks…

  20. xinellum says: Oct 12, 2016 12:32 PM

I am getting destroyed in fantasy football by injuries. Lost Newton for a week, lost Decker for the season, lost Steve Smith for 2 weeks, Peterson gone indefinitely. I had all these guys and now am scanning the waiver wire but by week 6 it is pretty much picked clean.

Goodell destroyed the tapes to hide the fact that every team was guilty of the same infraction. And, yes, Pats fans are angry about Goodell destroying the tapes that showed that every team was guilty of the same nothing infraction.

Sucks more now because we were having such a good season with our $14M QB.

…smh…for the record I never wanted Fitztragic back.

Woody, I got $1.00 can I buy the team from you please.

This is okay. Jets aren’t going anywhere, he doesn’t have to get the crap beat out of him every week, will still get paid and he gets to go home to Jesse. Aside from his bum shoulder, life is not difficult for Eric

He’s #24 in the avg QB salary chart. $4M less than Dalton at #23. 10 spots and $7M less than Tannehill. Hardly in the Franchise range. And it’s a one year contract.

  26. mogogo1 says: Oct 12, 2016 1:30 PM

Seems like this took a while to decide he was getting surgery. Were they not sure initially it was torn or was he going to try and play even knowing it was torn?

  27. justafanofnfl says: Oct 12, 2016 3:35 PM

Chuckle, some guy actually thinks that losing a first round draft pick, a half million dollar fine for the team and a quarter million dollar fine for the coach for ignoring a memo about camera placement in front of tens of thousands of fans, players, coaches was some how lenient and shows some type of light treatment from the commissioner.

    Can you believe it?

  36. graylingskies says: Oct 12, 2016 6:06 PM

Decker is a tough loss for the Jets. I thought they would be right there in the hunt this year. The team was on the rise under Bowles in spite of some bad non-football choices made in the past two years. Way too much money paid to get Revis back in the fold for one. Darrelle played his cards right for himself.

Then this preseason the Fitz contract situation disrupted the team chemistry for awhile. Yeah, and Petty almost looked like the answer in preseason until getting hurt. Stick a fork in Fitz, he’s done. He doesn’t even look like a good back-up anymore. Hackenberg’s time is now. Gino has had multiple opportunities in the past. Todd has nothing to lose. He has to play the cards he was dealt. Petty may be next year but Bowles won’t be here to see it unless the Jets can turn the season around this week.
