The Panthers took a step toward fixing their 1-4 problems, with quarterback Cam Newton a full participant in practice Thursday.
Panthers coach Ron Rivera told reporters that Newton still needed to be cleared by the independent neurologist after the concussion that kept him out of last week’s loss to the Buccaneers, but all signs point to him being ready to go Sunday against the Saints.
Via Bill Voth of Black and Blue Review, Newton was in high spirits as he took snaps with the first team.
The Panthers won’t have left tackle Michael Oher, however, as he hasn’t made the same kind of progress through the protocol as Newton has.
Rivera said cornerback James Bradberry (toe) and defensive tackle Vernon Butler (ankle) won’t play this week either.
