After yielding a safety to the Chargers on a holding penalty in the end zone, the Denver Broncos took advantage of a special teams turnover and found the end zone for the first time to trim into San Diego’s lead.

Max Garcia was called for a holding in the end zone that gave the Chargers a safety to increase their lead to 21-3. Replays showed the penalty was more likely on left tackle Russell Okung instead of Garcia.

The ensuing free kick by Denver was punted very short and mishandled by lineman Kenny Wiggins. Shiloh Keo jumped on the ball to give Denver possession near midfield. The Broncos finally were able to march on an 11-play, 66-yard scoring drive that culminated in a 5-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Siemian to Bennie Fowler to close the deficit to 21-10.

The Chargers promptly with three-and-out because of course they did. San Diego is once again in an uncomfortable position of leading a game after 50 minutes and trying to put away their opponent in a game they’ve otherwise controlled.
