The Vikings needed a tackle, and Jake Long needed a job. In the end, however, the team had the leverage.

Per a league source, Long signed a one-year deal for the veteran minimum of $885,000. With five weeks already in the books, that works out to $624,705.

If at any point Long lands on injured reserve, however, the salary will be cut in half, dropping to a base rate of $453,000. Which equates to $26,640 per game.

Concerns linger in league circles regarding Long’s knee. Ultimately, the Ravens opted not to sign Long during training camp because he refused to sign an injury waiver.
