Jamaal Charles: Time to take training wheels off

Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles hit one milestone in his return from a torn ACL in Week Four when he played against the Steelers, a step he reached without being a full participant in practice since before he suffered the injury in Week Five of the 2015 season.

Charles was able to check that box off of his list this Wednesday. There were no setbacks during the Steelers game or over the bye week, leaving Charles set for the bump up in practice activity. After the session, Charles said he’s ready for a bump up in game activity too.

“I’m ready,” Charles said, via the team’s website. “I told them to let the training wheels off me. I don’t want them on. I know how to ride now, so take them off and let me ride.”

Reid wouldn’t commit to anything, saying that Charles will “probably do a little bit more” against the Raiders. Spencer Ware has run well, but he’s also lost fumbles in each of the last three games and that could help open the door to Charles doing a lot more if he runs like he has in the past.

A much needed boost. And in few few weeks Justin Houston will be coming back. The Chiefs will be a much better team the second half of the season.

Charles should be the change of pace back. Keep him healthy for a playoff run. He’s not a 20+ carry guy any more.

Charles, in fact IS a 20+ carry a game player still.

Has limited mileage over the past 4 seasons. If he stays healthy he can be a 16-20 carry/4-6 reception per game player for 3 more seasons.

Build your offense around Charles, Kelce and Maclin and limit the workload on Alex to handoffs, screens and intermediate routes………cause Lord knows he cant/wont throw deep

Get a clue JC. You have been replaced and are now obsolete.
