Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles hit one milestone in his return from a torn ACL in Week Four when he played against the Steelers, a step he reached without being a full participant in practice since before he suffered the injury in Week Five of the 2015 season.

Charles was able to check that box off of his list this Wednesday. There were no setbacks during the Steelers game or over the bye week, leaving Charles set for the bump up in practice activity. After the session, Charles said he’s ready for a bump up in game activity too.

“I’m ready,” Charles said, via the team’s website. “I told them to let the training wheels off me. I don’t want them on. I know how to ride now, so take them off and let me ride.”

Reid wouldn’t commit to anything, saying that Charles will “probably do a little bit more” against the Raiders. Spencer Ware has run well, but he’s also lost fumbles in each of the last three games and that could help open the door to Charles doing a lot more if he runs like he has in the past.
