Dolphins rookie offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil told reporters Thursday he missed last week’s loss to the Titans after “a freak accident” caused him to aggravate an ankle injury.
“I walked out the shower and slipped,” Tunsil said Thursday. “Things happen. That’s the only thing I can say. Things happen.”
The Dolphins initially said Tunsil was injured in pregame warmups. He was a surprise scratch after not being listed on the injury report leading up to the game.
He was clearly missed. Billy Turner and Dallas Thomas started with Tunsil and Branden Albert out. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill was sacked six times, and both Turner and Thomas were cut earlier this week.
Tunsil has been back on the practice field this week. He’s the team’s starting left guard but moved out to left tackle, his college position, two weeks ago vs. the Bengals when Albert also missed the game.
