Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox hasn’t missed a game since his rookie season, but the team isn’t calling him a sure thing for this Sunday’s game against the Redskins.
Cox has been listed as questionable due to an ankle injury. Cox didn’t practice at all on Wednesday, but has been on the field for the last two days and the feeling around the team is that Cox will be able to play as the Eagles try to rebound from last Sunday’s loss to the Lions.
Cox signed an extension through 2022 with the Eagles this offseason and has done plenty to show why they want to keep him around in the first four games. Cox has 13 tackles and four sacks as the foundation of the team’s defensive line.
Cornerback Leodis McKelvin is also listed as questionable. McKelvin missed two games with a hamstring injury and has been limited in the other two contests, but was able to practice on Friday. Running back Ryan Mathews didn’t practice Friday because of an illness, but wasn’t given a designation on the injury report so the Eagles expect all will be well come Sunday.
