Panthers bring back defensive end Wes Horton

For all their other issues this season, the Panthers haven’t gotten consistent play or pressure from their defensive line.

And now that they’re dealing with some injuries, they had to bring back a guy they cut this offseason.

The team announced that they had re-signed defensive end Wes Horton, waiving wide receiver Damiere Byrd to create the roster spot.

Horton has spent part of the last three seasons with the Panthers, but was cut prior to the start of the regular season. He has six sacks, but was a solid run-down player for them.

With defensive tackle Vernon Butler out with a high ankle sprain and Paul Soliai’s status up in the air with a foot injury, the Panthers needed reinforcements up front, and can shift defensive end LaVar Edwards inside.

I read the first 5 words of the headline and thought “Oh No, they didn’t”. Then I read the name. Whew.
