Shazier out again, Coates questionable vs. Dolphins

Steelers wide receiver Sammie Coates caught passes in practice Friday and told reporters he wasn’t limited by his hand injury.

The Steelers are listing Coates as questionable for Sunday’s game at Miami. Coates still has stitches in his hand from an injury suffered last week vs. the Jets.

Five listed Steelers starters — linebacker Ryan Shazier, defensive end Cameron Heyward, wide receiver Markus Wheaton, safety Shamarko Thomas and right tackle Marcus Gilbert — are out. Heyward is expected to miss at least one more game as well due to a hamstring injury he suffered last week.

With Wheaton out and Coates questionable, the Steelers could promote wide receiver Cobi Hamilton from the practice squad. The team has until 4 p.m. Saturday to make such a move, but may not have to call up a receiver with Eli Rogers set to return after missing the last two games with a toe injury.

Save those hands to torch the Patriots secondary next week. Eli will do against Miami

    shazier out again?!! no way?!!

cannot wait until the pats offer up a very rude awakening for that wildly overrated d with no linebackers and no secondary.

I almost feel a little guilty that the schedule-makers gave us back-to-back-to-back weeks against the worst division in football 10 years running.

Coates will play. He was catching footballs at practice today.

This is funny, dude your team isn’t even the best in your state. On top of that, Brady owns the Steelers #fact

You mean like last years 7 point thrashing at home in the first game of the season? Just because you can open your mouth doesn’t mean you have to comment on every thread…we got in you are in need of attention….shhh

I really like what I’m seeing out if Vince Williams. What he lacks in coverage ability he makes up for in effort and intensity. One other thing I noticed last week is that Hargrave looks like he is starting to get comfortable in this defense and making some plays.

they won’t need Coates this weekend … he should rest …

in fact, just play the second stringers on both sides of the ball … my Fins won’t beat them either …

  9. bobthebillsfan says: Oct 14, 2016 3:14 PM

Shouldn’t be an issue, the Steelers are gonna spear the Dolphins.

  10. 69finfan says: Oct 14, 2016 3:19 PM

It’s a start. Now all we need is about 20-30 Steelers players to come down with a major stomach virus Saturday night/Sunday morning and the Fins might stand a chance.

Ok dude. We get it. You’re a pats fan. Try finding something else to do with your life other than commenting on every other teams threads first. On another note, you do know that Tom Brady doesn’t know who you are or even cares about you right? You do know the pats don’t care where your next meal is coming from or how your bills will be paid. Get a grip dude. It’s football.

    +++++++++++++

Can’t speak for other teams in the division but Pats fans are always glad to have the AFCN on the schedule. The AFCE was the winningest division in football again last year. All divisions finish 12-12 against themselves so the measure of one division’s strength vs another’s is avg wins per team. Here they are by division for the last 10 years:
    AFCE 8.45
    AFCN 8.28
    NFCE 8.08
    NFCN 8.08
    NFCS 8.03
    AFCS 7.63
    AFCW 7.63
    NFCW 7.63

Fun Fact: NE would be better off in the AFCN where in the Brady/Belichick era in spite of only playing the 1st place team 2 out of every 3 years they enjoy a winning % of .808, can only imagine what that % would be if they played more games against the Bengals and Browns

Fun Fact 2: Roethlisberger has a .609 winning % against the AFCE of course his .375 against NE is the primary reason for that.

Facts are troublesome things for Pats haters.

Most Pats fans would rather tylawspick was a Vikings fan but coming from the guy that lives to troll Pats threads that’s hysterical.

Wow chippy, you have a lot of time on your hands. I don’t know about all your stats, but I’ve seen enough over the past recent years to know that Bal, Cin and Cle have been tougher outs than Jets, Bills and Mia. And tell me these stats, what’s the record in the playoffs for AFCN vs AFCE.

  17. chippys lost binky says: Oct 15, 2016 10:59 AM

Well crown, it took all of a couple of minutes to gather those stats. They have this thing called the internet, it can actually be used ahead of posting to make sure what you are putting up is accurate. You should try it sometime, for instance to answer your playoff question.
