Unemployed NFL pass rusher Greg Hardy has opted for a career change, aspiring to become an MMA fighter. The man who runs the biggest MMA fighting operation on the planet hasn’t slammed the door on giving Hardy a chance, eventually.

“I’m one of those guys too who believes that we’re all human beings and we all make mistakes,” White said earlier this week on FS1’s Speak for Yourself, via MMAFighting.com. “And when you make a mistake, you pay your penance, whatever it might be, and you should be allowed to make a living and move on in your life. Is he good enough to come into the UFC and fight? I highly doubt it.

“I’ve been playing football for a couple weeks too, maybe I’ll try out for the Patriots?” White added. “It takes a little bit longer than that, but he could fight at one of these small shows. We’ll see how he looks, and I don’t know.”

FOX’s Jay Glazer, who covers both the NFL and UFC, has urged the MMA to shun Hardy. White isn’t yet, and for good reason. Plenty of money potentially could be made from giving Hardy a shot, and it wouldn’t be the first time that someone who had no business in the octagon gets a chance to fight in the UFC.

Plenty of people pay plenty of money to watch UFC pay-per-view events involving names that aren’t widely recognizable. Add Greg Hardy to the mix, and the cash register will be spitting out more and more dollars, for everyone.
