Panthers announce Cam Newton is cleared to play

The Panthers are ready to get the reigning league MVP back on the field.

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been cleared to play on Sunday against the Saints, the team announced this afternoon.

Newton missed last week’s game against the Buccaneers after suffering a concussion the week before. Derek Anderson started in place of Newton, but now Anderson can go back to the sideline.

The 1-4 Panthers will be counting on a big game from Newton against a suspect Saints defense.
