Geno Smith: “I’m getting antsy”

Last year, Jets quarterback Geno Smith had no qualms about sitting on the bench behind Ryan Fitzpatrick, given that the team was competitive. This year, the team isn’t competitive -- and so Fitzpatrick is less willing to not play.

“I’m getting antsy,” Smith told ESPN’s Lisa Salters before Monday night’s game.

Smith is the only other quarterback on Monday night’s active roster, so if the Jets are going to make a change tonight, he’ll get the nod. Some believe, however, that the Jets may be inclined to skip over Smith, if they make a quarterback change.

A second-round pick in 2013, Smith is 11-18 as a starter. But with the Jets in danger of sliding to 1-5, a spark is needed from someone.
