With the Jets down 28-3 in the fourth quarter Monday night, Jets coach Todd Bowles replaced quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick with Geno Smith.

The Cardinals went up 28-3 on a Carson Palmer pass to Michael Floyd with 8:20 remaining. That followed Fitzpatrick’s first interception of the night.

Fitzpatrick was 16-of-31 for 174 yards.

The Jets moved into Cardinals territory on Smith’s only drive but Alex Okafor sacked Smith on third down and on fourth down he was intercepted by Tyrann Mathieu.

David Johnson ran for the first three Cardinals touchdowns. After Floyd’s touchdown the Cardinals announced that Palmer had a strained hamstring. With the game decided, he was kept on the sideline and Drew Stanton came in to finish the game.

The appearance was the first of the season for Smith. In the first half, ESPN sideline reporter Lisa Salters said on the broadcast that Smith had told her he was “getting antsy.”

2016 is over for the Jets. Bowles is basically on a one year (2017) show-me deal and the GM may be as well.

See what happens when you let Brandon Marshall be your GM? Fitzsackpick.

They have Bryce Petty and Hackenberg? Surely those guys play better than these juggled QBs! SMH!

And then Geno threw an interception … lol.

The Jets QB situation is a joke and the team can thank management.

Atta boy with the “When you ain’t got nuthin, you got nuthin to lose” attitude.
Now bring him to Green Bay so he can bench Rodgers when needed.

BSPN sideline reporter Lisa Salters said on the broadcast that Smith had told her he was “getting antsy.” What the heck is she even talking to a bench warmer? Nobody cares!! He won’t even be on the roster next year! Proves how bad BSPN is!!

Smh….i know the jets seem like a dumpster fire that is getting put out with a water bucket with a huge hole in it. Thats not what got me this game it was all the damn penalties. Seriously do the zebras want their own reality show ir what? They clearly want to be on screen……alot.

  13. bpacha77511 says: Oct 18, 2016 1:31 AM

And wth was geno “antsy” about? Did he just need to throw a pick or what? Look geno isnt the guy.. Fitz had a good season and then remembered oh yeah im fitz and regressed. regardless of what brandon thinks he sucks. So you have petty and the other dude. See how they do. They might blow but at this point thats fine cuz its par for the course.

And the Jets just joined Cleveland and San Francisco in a bidding war for Tony Romo’s services in 2017

That team still has Rex’s stink on it. Throw everyone out the front door and hose down the building.

  17. eagleswin says: Oct 18, 2016 8:15 AM

I really think throwing Geno in there with 8 minutes left in the game down by 3 TDs and expecting a miracle is unfair to Geno.

Is he a world beater? No, but he is probably better than Fitz if you give him a few games as starter. He has yet to start a game under the current regime and roster.

You might as well evaluate Smith because everyone except for Bowles knows what you have in Fitz. The season is already over.

For all the Jets fans who were whining all offseason about how Fitz is the key to the Jets success, how does the crow taste? Your NFL interception leader by a landslide.

    ————–

Nobody is going to bid anything for Romo. He is one hit away from being done for good. Nobody is going to take a chance on him.

And now we’re seeing why the Jets didn’t want to pay a journeyman back up. Same ol’ story with Fitz. Teams get tape on him and it’s over. When what’s put in place is there, he can make the throw, but when teams take that a way he’s lost.

It’s pretty funny that the backup QBs are always fan favorites when things aren’t going as well. It doesn’t matter that the fans have never seen the backups play or only saw a couple passes in a preseason game with scrubs, that coach just doesn’t know what he’s doing, dangit!

The Jets to the niners on the race to the first pick in the draft:

“We’ll see your Kapernick and raise you a Geno Smith.”

  22. lscottman3 says: Oct 18, 2016 12:29 PM

maybe the jets need a system QB like Garrapollo?

Todd SuperBowles would know, right Jet’s fans?

  23. youbettercallsaul says: Oct 18, 2016 1:15 PM

Where is Glenn Foley or Browning Nagle when you need them? Or Flash Gordon?

The J-E-T-S are a gift that keeps on giving.
