The Colts promoted wide receiver Tevaun Smith Tuesday and placed wide receiver Quan Bray on injured reserve.

Smith is an undrafted rookie out of Iowa who’s been with the team since May and was placed on the practice squad after being released in early September. Bray had played in all six games. He returned both kickoffs and punts and had three catches for 36 yards.

ESPN’s Adam Caplan reported that the Colts also visited with veteran wide receiver Aaron Dobson Tuesday. The promotion of Smith probably means that no signing is imminent.

Earlier Tuesday the Colts announced the signing of tight end Chase Coffman, a move made necessary by the ankle injury suffered by tight end Dwayne Allen.

The Colts also signed rookie cornerback Frankie Williams back to the practice squad a day after waiving him. Wide receiver Marcus Leak was also signed to the practice squad, safety Lee Hightower was cut from the practice squad and tight end Mike Miller was placed on the practice squad injured-reserve list.
